Bride on a budget...postpones the wedding

By So confused!

Sorry I haven’t written on here for a long while, to those of you who do read this. A lot has happened!

Starting at the beginning; basically, I decided (and it was my decision) that we should postpone the wedding for the time being. This was partly down to the money situation, as we have a house that is so old it eats pounds and pennies, but also partly down to the fact that I just couldn’t cope with it.

I don’t really know why to be honest. I think that because my job is so very stressful this year, I just don’t have time to do the planning, and even though h2b has helped out with a little bit of the planning, he hasn’t done a lot. I don’t want that to sound derogatory. It’s not. It’s just that around the end of November, I was just so run down and stressed and tired, that I realised something had to give. I really want to work hard at my job so that we can have a nice home and security, and I just couldn’t do both…

So anyway, I told him that I thought we should postpone the wedding. He got a bit upset and said that his male ego had been damaged, but when I told him I still wanted to marry him, just not while we’re struggling a bit with money and my job takes up so much of my time. We’ve now had a look at brochures for 2010, because I think it would be lovely (ie, little planning for me!) to get married abroad in the Caribbean, and then have a nice party for everyone when we get back. I have a vision of getting married on a beach at sunset, wearing a white sun dress and being barefoot, and it really makes me happy.

I know I still definitely want to marry him, but everything’s just a bit weird at the moment. Thankfully, we haven’t paid any deposits, so we’re very lucky. I’m ringing the Priest tomorrow to cancel the wedding. I really hope I’ve done the right thing.

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Christmas xxx

I daren't postpone mine - my F would be in tears. He is so loved up, and so looking forward to me being his wife.. trying to muster up the same enthusiasm is hard though!

Rushing into marriage is not the answer an if you if your not ready for the commitment, then putting it off is the only way out, the only thing is you could never finish furnish your home its a life time job thats material things ,for me its the other way round we were due to get married 2011 as my sister had planned 2010, but then her and her H2B broke up an my partner an I decided to bring ours forward, marriage is something I have always wanted but as time went by I started to think it would never happen meet my H2B found that we both wanted the same out of life and are willing to work together in building our future together

It sounds like you've done the right thing, so well done - relax! I'm getting married in April 09, also selling my house & buying with my H2B, in order to get my kids into a new school in beteen exam years so they are settled. We don't want to wait to marry as our parents are rather elderly and not in good health - and H2B's will have to fly from Ireland. Can't be helped - we're all happy and that's what matters!!
All the best :o)
