can't believe i'm finally writing a report. have loved reading everyone elses, mine won't be too long but just a few things i wanted to say about my absolutely fabulous day!!

both my husband (still feels odd putting that!) and myself have had very difficult previous marriage break ups - mine left me with 2 children of 6 and 4 after having an affair so life wasn't easy for a while. then 3 years after the break-up i met the man of my dreams and married him 5 years later on 9th may! it has been like a fairytale, we are both so happy and can't believe we have been lucky enough to find each other ( i actually met him through speed dating!!) we just fit together and laugh so much.

we had a fabulous day. i don't know what to say , it just makes me smile whenever i think about it. my gorgeous bridesmaids were my daughter and my husbands daughter and my son was our usher. everyone that has helped me through the bad times was there and it was such a celebration of our love, our new family and friendship because without my friends and family i wouldn't have coped with my break up. i really thought i would be emotional on the day but i was so calm and just enjoyed every minute of it. no one could believe that i was so relaxed but i just think i was so happy to be marrying my lovely john.

the music was our favourite songs, i walked into sinatra fly me to the moon, we all sang bring me sunshine during the service and while we were signing the register we played love and marriage my eyes adored you and walked out to abba i do i do i do i do i do. our first dance was to can't take my eyes off of you (which john sang the first verse of as a surprise to me!) and we had an elvis impersonator during the evening and he sang the wonder of you while we cut our cake. our tables were named after our favourite songs.

our cake had me and john bursting out of the top of it and our children sitting on it and our cat and rabbit at the back (had to get the whole family on!).

it was the most fabulous day.

we have just come back from our honeymoon in san francisco and vegas (we drove down the coast and across death valley to vegas).

we had an elvis wedding vowel renewal 2 weeks after our wedding at the graceland wedding chapel in vegas! elvis escorted me down the aisle to the wonder of you and we ended it by singing and dancing to viva las vegas, it was hysterical!

Hi I've just a look at your photos and your day looked amazing. We're also getting married there in July. In fact looking at the pictures in more detail I remember actually going to the venue to speak to Maggie on the morning of your wedding, as I remembered the records on the tables!!
I was wondering whether I could ask you a few questions?
What was the food and service like?
What was the room like that you got ready in? When we went a year ago and booked the room that we were shown didn't look great, so I was thinking of getting ready at home and then getting my dress on there.
Did you stay in the venue that night?

Hope you don't mind me asking all these questions.

hi R79, fancy you going there on the day we got married! the food was great, the room we got married in was lovely, i can't think of anything that wasn't how i wanted it to be. i had my hair done at home as i have 3 children and wanted to spend the night before at home so arrived 2 hours before the wedding and finished getting ready in the room.

they did change the bridal suite to a smaller room but as we had already been shown the big bridal suite (it's the room at the top of the stairs) we insisted on using the old suite which they were happy to do for us. i think after our comments about how nice the old suite was they have gone back to using it - it's the round room above the bar. they close off 2 other bedrooms as you have to use the bathroom in one of them as the suite doesn't have one so there is a nice bit of space. we did stay there the night of the wedding and it was great and the breakfast in the morning was nice and it was all very chilled and we didn't leave until about 1.00pm.

you will have an amazing day there, maggie is great and nothing was too much trouble for her.

the only think i am upset about is our photographer - he didn't take enough shots on the staircase and he only took one photo of me and my bridesmaids beforehand! i have been so upset about it and all he can do is apologise but i am very upset about it. he didn't take a picture of the bridesmaids walking down the aisle and he only took one of me and my dad walking down the aisle! we had 3 photographers there so i just don't understand it. thank goodness i had a video guy there too, i just hope thats ok!!

the dresses were from romanitca of devon - my daughter is 14 so finding something that she was happy to wear and that johns daughter who's 10 could wear was tricky! i loved the colour altho it wasn't my first choice to start with but i think the girls chose well!!

Did you have the 3 course sit down meal? We're having a knife and fork buffet, which they don't do any more, but Maggie let us have it as we booked last year as they were changing their menus.

Did you have an evening buffet and if so how many did you cater for and did all the food go?

What canapes did you have?

How long did you have between coming out from your ceremony and sitting down for dinner? We're having about 2 hours, but have booked a man who will teach the children circus tricks and make ballon animals etc. We're also having a magician for the adults. Maggie was trying to make us have shorter time outside, but as we've paid for these men to entertain we want to get our money's worth.

Did you have an open bar in the evening? If so how much did it end up costing?

hi, yes we had the 3 course meal, it was lovely. we got married at 2 and sat down at 4.30 and finished at 6.45 when the evening guests arrived. we had a magician who came at 3 and left at 5 - he did some magic while we were eating as well as while the photos were being taken, he was very good and amused everyone.

we had an evening buffet, we catered for 75 and there were a lot of sandwiches left! everyone loved the buffet, we had wraps, sandwiches, sausages, mushrooms, scotch eggs, fruit platter....gosh im finding it hard to remember, i didn't eat any of it i was so stuffed so i would under cater rather than over. everyone said it was very nice and of course we had the cake to eat as well, we didn't cut it til about 7.30 when all the evening guests had arrived and elvis sang to us while we cut it! we had it in the reception area which worked well as everyone fitted in.

we had elvis and the disco in the room next to the bar and our buffet in the big room where we got married.

we had 60 guests in the day which went up to 100 in the evening and we had an open bar all day before and after the wedding at the bill was £1,200.

you must be local to me, i live in bromley, so let me know if you would like to meet for a coffee or come over to pick my brains and watch the wedding video! we should have it next week.

hi fizzystick, ah thanks. i was soooo worried about my dress, i could never find anyone else that had the same style despite repeatedly asking on this website if anyone was wearing it so i started to get really worried that i had chosen something awful!!

it's amanda wyatt, marina. it felt fabulous to wear and covered a multitude of sins underneath it!!

the amanda wyatt dresses are gorgeous, very floaty. i am sure the dress you have chosen is gorgeous - i felt exactly the same as you, isn't it hard when you order it and then don't see it for 6 months!! it really plays tricks with your mind and you start doubting your choice. it was my one really big worry. i kept going into the shop to have a look at the sample, they got used to me going in and trying it on but the sample was a size 16 and i had ordered a 12 so until it came in i didn't really know how it would look. when it did come in it fitted like a glove and just needed taking up.

sorry to have rambled on but i do know how you feel but don't let your mind wander away from what i am sure is a beautiful dress that you have chosen. there are so many lovely dresses out there i am sure i could have chosen 10 and loved them all!
