Subject : Has anyone had a ceremony & reception on a yacht?

Hi,
Can anyone offer any tips on the above? I live overseas and love the idea of a small 'floating' wedding and reception so we have booked a lovely boat for the venue. Family and friends will be travelling from the UK.

If anyone has done this and has any tips i'd be grateful? I'm very excited about the day but I'm worried that my guests will become a bit bored if they can't leave the boat until we go back to the marina (especially grandparents).

The wedding is at 5pm and reception until the wee hours. We will be having a sit down meal and have a saxophonist booked for a couple of hours. Does anyone think it is worth hiring a DJ for 40 people? The alternative is making our own playlist. Any comments appreciated:)

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

Im having my ceremony and reception onboard the sea star yacht in paphos. We're not having a dj or anything, just been told that we can hook our ipod up to the sound system on the yacht. Which we are quite happy with,,,,

Thanks for your comment Miss Tinkerbell... I just checked some forum photos of a yacht wedding in Paphos and it looks absolutely lovely.

Hope you have an amazing wedding day!

Hi,

Im also having my reception aboard the Sea Star in Paphos. So excited...only 70 days away.
Iv hired a DJ for 6 hours as we're going to be on the yacht for 9 hours! Im only having 30 people, but really fancied the idea of a DJ playing some cheesy tunes.
I also live overseas (in Cyprus) so I thought if im getting married abroad, i would like to do something a bit different.

Luce x

Ladies,

I've done a few weddings on the yachts this year and they really are a lovely place to have your day. The staff are all lovely and really helpful and doing it this way does make it a very special day. Like you say it is a bit different. Where do you live Lucinda, just to be nosy

evedavis,
If you don't want exclusivity but still want a boat, you do have the option of joining a wavedancer cruise. They sail out during the day and whey anchor in Coral Bay harbour and people can get off and swim. Have a look at http://www.water-activities.com/half_day_cruise.htm

I also got married last month on the sea star, although actually got married in st pauls church which is lovely. We had a DJ but i had given him a raft of music to play so he didnt really do much. I would say you prob dont need one.
I can honestly say Guerlian that your guests will not be bored, mine loved every minute of it, we was on there for 6 hours and it just wasnt enough time, it flew by.

Hi Nicole hudson

im really interested in the sea star - would you recommend not going for the dj and just bring an i-Pod then?
Did you anchor and have your meal off the boat?
Did you opt for the free bar - if so, do you think it was worth it?

Sorry for all the q's

Oh thats sounds great. We're marrying and staying in Limassol, but i would really like to stay on the yacht for as long as possible.
Are you paying for the DJ?
