Subject : Need help breaking from the Norm! Shoes, hair and the rest..
Hi everyone,
I could with some advice. My unconvetional wedding has turned into a conventional one due to funds (or lack of them):\(
I started off with a medieval styled wedding dress in Midnight Blue - I had it made up and it came back totally wrong! Looks horrendous on me! (Great on someone else, just not me!)
So after searching far and wide I bought a Mon Cheri 18106. It looked totally different to what I thought it would on me. Very floaty and fairy princess and because I'm short it has given it a nice train!
Anyhoo, I want to inject some variety to my outfit! But dont know what with!
I would love a circlet but due to the budget I need something cheap as poss!
Same with my shoes.
I would like some sandals that wrap and tie up my leg but can't seem to find any!!!
As for my hair I've no idea. I've got shoulder lenght dark brown hair.
I would love to go with something pagany, fairy princess, type look (if that makes any sense! lol)
Originally we were having a handfasting and everything but things have changed and been dropped for the day and now I'm left feeling like its a total different wedding to what I wanted.
Anyway, I'll leave there for now! Sorry for rambling!
If anyone has any ideas I'd be so grateful!

I wanted Halloween! But we decided September as its our anniversary of when we met!
Cape sounds a good idea- just want it to go with the dress,
Found some really nice circlets on eBay but unsure about the oones with colours stones etc. The ones in myprice range can look cheap sometimes!
Decisions! Feel like my heads going to explode sometimes! LOL!

I'm going for the medieval look too. Have you tried http://www.etsy.com/ for circlets? I know they have some that are fairly reasonable. Probably worth a look.
Otherwise, had you thought about some sort of plaits and flowers arangement? Maybe like...

or, something like this beauty I found the other day...

As for the midnight blue thing. Totally understand the love of that. That's our colour theme too. BM's are having dresses similar to mine in Midnight blue, and our flowers and car... yep, you guessed it. Anyhow, thought I'd share this with you... not sure if it would go with your dress or not, but it's certainly a hint of midnight blue with the medieval touch...
it's from the lady who's currently making my dress. It arrives in a week and I'm sooooo excited. She makes some lovely dresses and very reasonably priced.

edited as I'm a dunce who put the wrong picture in!! D'oh.

rainbow-angel...
drop her an e-mail. I'm sure she'd make it in red too and I know she has a whole bunch of pretty red fabrics!! I'm having the blue boleros for my BMs, but without the cuffs. She was fine with that.

can't hurt to ask if you really like it! :\)

I too wanted a pagan handfasting ceremony, with a spritualist medium taking the service in a marquee near our home with a bonfire.
I am actually having it in a very modern methodist church with the reception in the theatre across the road.
I am keeping a very tight budget so the beautiful silver cape from ebay (medieval hog) was eventually replaced with flowers for the wedding cake.
My one stipulation (and foc) is the wedding reading, despite being a church they are very laid back with the readings and so I am having my friend read something (although not picked it yet) about mythology / pagan love etc.
Try and claim a bit of the wedding back to make it your own - even if its only small things like having funky tribal patterns on your fingernails.

UniqueStar: Love the jacket! It is so beautiful!
I really want blue with my dress but because of the colour (says is Natural, I'd say a bit of an off-white cross ivory! LOL! Too many 'whites')
But Thanks for the idea as I've now decided I want a bolero type jacket with medieval sleeves, looking for one in white chiffon but the only one I've seen that I like is £75 on eBay and I can't really afford to push it to that much. Budgets...grrrrr...
HAzelrabbit - totally understand what you mean about trying to claim a bit of the wedding back! I've trying hard to do the same.
I love the cloaks that medieval hog do and would love one! If it would suit the dress. Find it really hard with the internet as you can;t try them with the dress :(
My dress is quite conventional (but its a destinations dress, not a bit conventional thing) but I've just bought 2 circlets to try out and planning on having the wavy hair with the odd flowers dotted about.Something quite loose and natural.
Also got an arm cuff to wear on my upper arm and planning on wearing an anklet.
To get the blue in there somewhere I was thinking of having it a bit in my bouquet (which I haven't chose yet!) and wearing blue nail varnish!!! Though like the thought of tribal patterns on them!
BB!
PS can anyone tell me how to post piccys?

I don't know how you feel about making your dress puffier, but I've seen some gorgeous coloured crinoline against whitish/ivory dresses. You could try ebay if you fancied it, here is one from off-beat brides (in red)

you could also go for a midnight blue sash, maybe in velvet, which would be cheaper but still a little different and funky!
