Subject : Branches or Feathers centerpiece
Hi, IS ANYBODY HAVEING BRANCHES OR FEATHERS FOR CENTERPIECE
I am getting in july/august 2010 still haven't decided on a date. Deciding on the colours and centerpiece has been a nightmare. I think i am having magenta and purple. I love having branches with some hanging crystals for my centerpiece but it has proven hard to get branches online at least might find it easier if i check at garden centers or something. Anybody has any ideas where i can big strong branches. At the same time i am loving ostrich feathers which again not easy or cheap to find the vases are even more expensive. How is everybody getting on with their centerpiece or reception decor.

I think at this stage I would be more worried about booking a venue/date.:o

I have to agree that you should think about venues first. Things get booked so early these days.
However...
as for the centrepieces...
You can hire vases full of ostrich feathers. I was quoted about £25 for them, but have since decided on something else.
As for branches... have you tried ikea? They ususally have quite a bit in the 'twig in a pot' range. Maybe they would have something more branchlike.

I have to agree with everyone else, I'd look for a venue first. Once you have your venue then your ideas flow from that. You may end up in a castle and want big extrabagnt centrepieces or you may end up in a barn and find you want something totally different.
Besides, some venues are strict on what you can and cannot have. I am not allowed rose petals as they stain the marble floor - so best to see what your venue is and go from there.
Also, just a note re: feathers. I have a fair few friends allergic to feathers so if they are real just be aware that some guests could be allergic to them.

Mnn definately get your venue & date sorted.
Next and lots of garden centers have nice sparkly twigs in around CHristmas time, so it might be worth waiting until then
