Hello my lovely July Brides

Well the big day happened and I am now Mrs Perkins

The weather was completely fab but so hot!!! I was sweltering and almost passed out with the heat (thankfully the limo had aircon and he took the long way round to the meal)

But it was not the day I was hoping for I was feeling nervous all morning. Not about getting married as I could not wait to be his wife (been waiting 13 yrs so long enough ha ha) but about my family and his family meeting as the last time they met was not on good terms. But when I saw my hubbie I fell in love with him all over again (awwww) and he was sooo nervous.

Anyway we had to wait for 15 mins whilt waiting to go into the old registry building. The familys were at opposite ends of the parking area so I asked them to all get together so I can introduce them. My hubby's mum, dad, 2 eldests brothers & partners were really lovely and made small talk but his sister (who was only there to keep family peace) did not bother to speak to any of my family or even me. Not one word!!!

I felt really uncomfortable and with the heat was feeling like things were going wrong and we had not even got inside! Anyway my mum and best friend were keeping us smiling and Sassy our photographer was more than I could have hoped for and kept things going really smoothly ..... but even his sister was being a pain with that. She was constantly moaning behind my back to his family that she did not want to be in the wedding photos and made sure that everyone knew it. We bought both our mums & my best friend a wrist corsarge and all the men a button hole and her boyfriend (who had been very rude to me on the phone the week before and had hung up on me) refused to wear his as he said he did not want to wear anything I had got him!!!! Ungrateful little $^&$# after all the attitude and stress him and hubbys sister caused about coming in the 1st place. Anyway hubby did his best to try and keep the peace as my family were getting very angry with their attitude towards me but I pleaded with them to enjoy the day.

We went in and they were all sat in the back row, not behind us where they were asked to sit so the pics look strange. As soon as we said I do they were out of there. I know it was hot but surly 5 minutes whilst we were getting married and taking some pics would be polite! They moaned as we got out in the gardens as Sassy wanted to take some pics of just us and was asked them if they could kindly all wait for us under a beech tree where it would be cooler. Nope they went straight to the pub leaving just my family and his parents. By this time I just did not know what to do. I felt like crying and my lovely hubby said sod them the people who matter are just us but he could see why I was getting upset.

Anyway we arranged for the restaurant to open slightly early due to the weather so everyone could have a drink (we were paying for the 1st round) and his sister and boyfriend (who still had not spoken a single word to us) just ordered double whiskys!!! We tried to speak to them but they just walked away. We were just having a meal so there was no seating plan but they sat on the end of the table and moaned about everything. My family, especially my best friend and her partner were ready to lay them out and so was my hubbies eldest brother. I was asking everyone were they enoying their food and she kicked up a fuss about she wanted Gammon not steak. We had asked everyone to give us their order 2 days before hand so they could cook this in time for everyone but she did it on purpose. We changed it but nothing was good enough.

Due to the weather being about 30 plus degrees we siad for everyone to have a 10/15 minute "air break" to cool down and smoke if they needed to. They went over to the farthest table and had faces like a bad smell! By this point everyone were just fed up and all the preperation we had done was left and everyone went home at 8pm!!!! No speaches, no photos, no cutting the cake and we did not even get the chance to give everyone their little gift. I felt like crying. And to top it all off no one helped with clearing the decs off the table or help with the unopened cake so hubby and I had to do it.

Just when I thought that things could not get any worse, we found out that our niece could not get home so WE had to take her. On our wedding night! Everone but his sister and boyfriend came to say goodbye before they left and I felt so low afterwards that when we finally got home after running around after everyone I just sat on our sofa and cried!

Luckly there is a silver lining on this what should have been the happiest day of our lives. Hubby had hidden some red roses with next door who had put them in our garden on a table and we had a small picnic in our garden with the cake and some pudding the resturant gave us (they were fab as they saw that something was not right and I did not eat anything of my meal cause I was worrying too much about all of the above). We then flew out to Barcelona for 3 glorious sunfilled days and nights and now feel the happy wedding glow.

Even though my wedding did not go how I wanted the main thing was I married the love of my life and we are now husband and wife. I love him more than I could ever feel possible and whatever happens for this moment forward I know he will be there for me. I cant wait to see Sassys photos as she really did make our day and my family & best friend were there to make our day that little more bearable.

I am sorry I have gone on a bit but needed to write it down (well the main points) so I can move forward. Your all wondeful ladies and can only send you all my love and best wishes for all your weddings.

One good thing tho still have post hen night on saturday as was too poorly to go before the wedding.

Oh no I cant believe that people would be so cruel to do that to you on your wedding day of all days. That is so horrible of them. I am very happy that you feel the wedding glow now and at least you know who your true friends and family are now. Congrats to you both.

Sorry that some selfish peope try to ruin your day. Hope you edit out all the bad bits, and remeber how lovely your husband looked as you looked in his eyes and exchanged vows!!

Sorry to hear that, I really am! I really hope it didnt effect your day too much and it won't be a memory that you 'hold' on to from your wedding day.
I have the exact same problem with my sil2b - i've tried so hard to speak to her, but I just get blanked and I know i havent done anything! we were even at his parents last week to meet other family and friends before the big day and I thanked her for her present in front of everyone and she completely blanked me - in front of EVERYONE! thankfully h2b admitted this time to what she'd done and says he'll have a word before the 30th - but I'm just so nervous about her ruining our day and making us or me uncomfortable!
Sorry for turning this round on me, really didnt mean too, just wanted to basically say i hear where you're coming from!
I hope things straighten out and she sorts out whatever problem she may have!
Congratulations on the big day, you have each other and love each other, thats the biggest thing of all!! xx

Oh Mrs Perkins how awful for you that you have been made to feel like that on your wedding day, families can be so cruel sometimes and that is unacceptable.

I really wish you all the best in your married life and so pleased you found the wedding glow, I hope your photos are fabulous and you can look at them with happy memories of the day you married the love of your life and not with sadness of what a cow the sil is.

what a cow she should have stayed at home (personally i would have let me family floor her) one good thing is you got something a lot of people dont on thier wedding day quality time with hubby what a lovely memory a picnic in the garden x x x

That's a terrible way for someone to behave at your wedding. I am so sorry to hear that someone could be so spiteful. Couldn't she even be pleasant for her brother's sake?

Loved the bit about falling in love with your hubbie all over again and so glad that your pinic and trip to Barcelona have given you a wedding glow.

God im so sorry your day turned into a nightmare, im worrying about my h2b mum as she has tried to make everything go wrong with her attitude but my mum hasnt even be bothered about anything.... everyone keeps telling me it will be fine on the day but yours clearly wasnt, these people should be ashamed of their selves what awful awful people to do that too you, as a bride we all try and make everyone happy, and it just doesnt work, im glad you had a lovely picnic and honeymoon you deserve it after dealing with all that x

To you all thanks for your lovely words. Hubbie (hee hee love saying that ) has just read them and said that he could not care less about his sister and we dont have to bother with her no more. He unfortunately still has to work with her boyfriend but hopefully not for much longer. We wanted to buy a voodoo doll in Barcelona but thought why spend our euros on her and got beer instead ha ha

We have seen some of the pics on facebook from my family and I will put them up as soon as I can so you can all see.

We have decided to have a party for his birthday on the 20th July and we are going to take some more pics of which she WILL NOT be invited and have a cake and be able to give everyone their wedding gifts then. x x

Hunny, it was a pleasure to photograph your wedding. I have never seen such a happy, loved up couple in all of my life......you are destined to be.....I just know it...now post some piccies and show everyone how beautiful and happy you were that day before the evil SIL ruined it!
