Subject : DIY stationary - hints tips and pics??
Hi ladies,
The last few days I've been to Hobbycraft and The Range and bought a few packs of blank cards and ribbons and other bits to try and make my own cards and other stationary.
But, although I have loads of ideas, I can't help feeling a little lost!
I posted on here ages ago and someone recommended PureInviation to me, which is where I bought my very first samples from.
Does anyone have any other websites that are good?
How much, roughly as I know it vaires, does it cost to make your own stationary compared to getting it done for you? Am I really saving loads of money?
If anyone wants to share their stationary pics I would be very grateful too.
Thanks xx

Hi. I am doing all of my stationary myelf. I have done my first draft invitation which I have decided I am now happy with. I have priced the invitations up and they will cost me just less than £50 to make 120 pocketfold invitations.
I am working on a really strict budget, so I didn't have a choice but to make my own.

Hi
I think it depends on how much time you want to spend on making them and how creative you are really. If you've got time and come up with an idea that is simple but effective then you can save loads by doing them yourself.

Hi, we made our own for under £1 each. If you look at 'my other topics' under my name at the side you will see 'my invites' where there is pics and details x

We recently decided to make our own after ordering tonnes of samples and not finding ones that we liked for a reasonable price.
I've priced up the options and found after initially going to Hobbycraft they are a LOT more expensive than other craft retailers.
The best place I've found is pdacardandcraft.co.uk (recommened by another b2b on yayw)- I ordered a pack of swatchs for £1 too see what the card was like 'in the flesh'. For the one I want the card is costing aprox £60 for the following
65 125x125 Cards with 1 insert and 1 envelope each (day)
20 A6 cards with 1 insert and 1 envelope each (evening)
60 45 Cards with 120 inserts (Order of service)
30 DL cards with 30 inserts (menus)
130 placecards
I got a stamp of ebay with our names on and the wedding date underneath in a wedding type font. I also bought some stamps with 'wedding invitation' 'Order of service' etc... in the same font from the same seller. They came to about £23 for the lot.
I'm searching for ribbon now- I need about 100 metres and I've seen some on ebay for about £12.
I've done some mock-ups and we're really pleased with them. I don't see it coming to much more than £100 after ink and other stuff. Considering we were looking at paying £4-500 for the personalised invites that we initally looked at I'm chuffed. We're not exactly on a budget but we've become increasingly cynical at the way everything is so inflated when you put the 'W' word infront of it!
Sorry about the essay x

I made my own, but they weren't cheap by any means!
It's quite possible to make cheap invitations to keep to a strict budget but I chose to use fancy embellishments and papers which bumps the price up.
I'm also making matching Menu and Place Name cards to continue the theme, which is also quite expensive, but I'm having a small wedding in Italy so I wanted to splash out on the little details.
It depends which style of invitation you want?

This site sells them for as little as £2 and the samples I received were lovely! x

We are making our own pocketfold. Saved a fortune and got it all from hobbycraft! :) Not much left to do on them now.
Let us know how you get on!

I made my own invites and also place names, table numbers, seating plan ect. I am also going to be making my own table centerpieces. I can't wait to walk in on the day and see it all together knowing that I have created it.
It also gives me something to do to keep me occupied on the run up to the big day!.
Happy to send photo's of what I have made.
