Subject : wedding gone mad (vows, sand ceremony)
This may be a long one sorry ladies,
I am so excited for the wedding, and keep looking through wedding mags and websites and see some really amazing ideas and think i will incorporate that. Yesterday i was looking at my original wedding folder (have 3 now) and what i wanted was a small simple wedding, a simple Grecian style dress with a flower in my hair, since then as i said i have been looking at wedding weddings weddings, and lost my simple wedding.
We now have 60 guests, I am wearing a Maggie Sottero A line dress (Karen Marie), originally I didn’t want any bridesmaids I now have 4, I wanted a BBQ buffet but now we are having a 3 course sit down meal. So as you can see if far from what I originally wanted and in ways I am happy love my dress and love that so many people want to be there to see us get married. i had a huge bust up with the cake people in cyprus coz they couldnt make this cake http://www.brides.com/planning/cakes/feature/slide/167445#slide_167460, i have known these people and indeed cyprus for my whole life and know that things are different there, i just think you try so hard to make your wedding beautiful but all i am doing is trying to have an english wedding in cyprus, and its not about that.
So anyway to bring some of the simple, personalised stuff back I wanted to write my own vows but as we are getting married in Cyprus we cant, so we are thinking of a sand ceremony but seems sort of cheesy and expensive (125 euros for some sand), basically was wondering if anyone else has had one, or is having one who can give more information, alternatively if anyone has any ideas about how we can incorporate any other personnel touches.
Thanks

Hi,
I can't reallty help, but we are adding some extra vows to our ceremony between my daughter and h2b.
Could you not just add 1 extra line to your vows?
The sand ceremony tho would be nice.
xx

Hi there
we were offered a sand ceromony but decided against it, sorry hon I just think its a bit cheesy (no offense meant) also we are not getting married on beach so seemeed silly for us.
to give our wedding a jamaican theme we are have a steel band for ceromony and then a reggae band in the evening.
I know what you mean though hon, you get so sucked in and start plannig as if your having a big uk wedding, to be honest my fiance is worse than me he wants all the traditional stuff.
check out bestdestinationwedding forum (american) loads on there are doing sand ceromony xx

I'm getting married in Cyprus and the registrars have told me that as long as its short we can say a couple of minutes of our own vows after we say the official ones. Where are you getting married? xxx

I am getting married in cyprus, and was told it was ok to have the extra vows as long as they are short.
