I had my ice hotel wedding confirmed yesterday. We are going in Feb 2009 and are dealing with a company called arctic experience. They seem to be quite reasonable price wise. Any info you want just ask!!

OMG!!!!!!!! So Jealous, I was there almost 12 months ago, H2B took me there to propose, out on a snowmobile tour in the middle of nowhere under the Northern Lights, very romantic.

The place is amazing and no one can explain and do the place justice, it definatley has to been seen, you will have the time of your life there, we did see a couple of weddings taking place while were there and they looked fantastic, very intimate.

We also booked with Artic Experiance and they are a top class company the itinery was exactly as they said and broke everything down for you as there was a bit of travelling involves and we booked some of the trips, you must go on a husky trip they are fab and the views you get to see go wouldn't see any other way.

Hope that helped!!!! Have fun!!!!!!

NicG any photos would be fantactic as the brochure photos are class but totally staged to make them look nice...if u get my drift. Did you see any weddings when u were there? Is the ice chapel 'SPECIAL' ? I would love to go ahead and book but still sorting prices etc. Who did you book with? I'm still thinking about a company such as Discover the World because at least if s'thing goes wrong then u have s'one to blame!!!!!! I can't wait to see your pics.

Vikki Marie....if you don't mind me asking, how much are you being quoted by going through the tour company. If you don't want to post it publicaly then u can e-mail me if you want. Are you going for direct flights or via Stockholm? How Exciting!!!!

Mrs monkey to b......if u read this can you tell me how to access your website as I have read that u constructed one for your ice hotel wedding. Also, where did u buy the snow boots etc for the wedding and what type of dress are you going for? I would love a hooded fur (fake) lined cape to wear as well as a typical dress. Only having one bridesmaid and haven't a clue what to get her. Who did you book through and how long are you staying?

My h2b took me there for my birthday in December. We were there just before Xmas. It did snow a bit and there was lots of snow already anyway. The week before we went it was as cold as -25 but whilst we were there it ranged from +2 to -15. What I would check though is that the ice church is ready in time. It was not quite finished whilst we were there and the first wedding wasn't going to be till the day after boxing day.
It's such a magical place - any one going there will ave a wonderful time and getting married there would be the icing (parden the pun!) on the cake.
We went with the discover the world and they were great. We also went on the first ever direct flight from heathrow to kiruna and got free choccies and champagne on the plane.
I would definetley recomend getting a direct flight is it makes the journey so much quicker.
Agree with NicG - you must have a husky trip - it was fab.
Good luck in your organising.

Awk cheers girls.. your help and advice has been great. H2B just viewed the pics and said he felt cold even looking at them!!! I told him I would keep him toasty! Gona find out more about the direct flight from Heathrow as it sounds ideal given that the wedding guests wil want as little fuss as is poss. As the direct flight leaves a little later than the indirect one, it also means that we could fly from N.ireland to heathrow in the morning and then hop on the direct flight rather than have to fly to heathrow the day before and stay over if we were getting an indirect flight as it leaves as 7am. All advice and tips are welcomed and pics of course!!!! This wedding business is so exciting but i'm spending all my time checking this forum for more info from u ladies!!!

Hi girls!

We are getting married a year today so I am sooooo excited at the moment!!!! Vikki- marie & Gypsy Girl. We are also booking through Discover The World, we are dealing with Louisa there who is lovely! We are not having flowers as i heard they wilt pretty quickly. I found snow boots on ebay, they are so warm and comfortable. Don't really have a lot more ideas at the moment! Am thinking of speaking to Eva after this years weddings are over when she is less busy to get some advice.

How are you all getting on? Have you booked anything yet? Would love to hear all about it as it is hard planning for a wedding there.

Speak soon,

Kate x

Oh my god, Mrs Monkey.....a year today and you will be married!!!! Class!

Cheers for your website details. I'll get onto it pronto and get some stuff sorted out. We are now thinking of going with Discover the World and giving guests the option of staying at one of the Sami hotels in Kiruna which is in the brochure as it's a bit cheaper for them than staying with us at the ice hotel. But will tell them about staying at ice hotel too so at least they have an option. We would then try and organise transport for them to come to the ice hoitel for the wedding and dinner etc. Haven't gauged family level of interest yet....scared to broach the money aspect!!!!! Hope it will be fine. H2B thinks the place is class and loves to hear about the plans of others. Are you having guests and if yes where are they staying. How many days are you going for? Are you going for a direct flight or via Stockholm?

Hi Gypsy girl. Just had a look at our invoice and for 3 nights at IceHotel (2 warm and 1 in an ice room!), wedding ceremony & transfer to registrar is working out about £2000 depending on exchange rate. Our friends and family are gonna stay in Kiruna and then we'll have a meal in Homestead Restaurant afterwards (no price for this yet Confused ) We're gonna change at Stockholm from Heathrow staying for 3 nights (going home afternoon after wedding) as we have reception back here on the Saturday.

Oooh, and guests are paying about £800 each to come with us but this includes a coach from our home town to the Airport. Can't believe how enthusiastic they've all been about it- however deposits are due from everyone on 8th Feb so we will see!!!!!!!

That's not bad at all. (£2000, is that each or for u and hubby and wedding?) I'm glad to hear that the guests haven't had a heart attack when you announced the price for 3 days. As I'm from Ireland we have to fly to heathrow so me and h2b are considering paying for e'one's flight to and from heathrow so costs don't spiral for them (think I have lost the plot!). How nice that you are having a doo when you get back. That's class and a lovely idea for those who can't make it. Where in Kiruna are your guests staying. I was thinking of getting more info about the Hotel Rallaren as the brochure (Discover the world) gives it a good review. Can you organise transfers for your guests from Kiruna to the ice hotel for the wedding ok?? Sounds silly but did you have to pay for the wedding and your ice hotel stay upfront or can you pay in installments?? God you would think I have never left the country!!!

Hi there Gypsy Girl, that was for both of us and the wedding, but not including meal afterwards or anything. My H2B is dealing with Eva mainly and so I only get second hand information a lot of the time but that is his area and i'm leaving him to it! I'm doing everything else but he's sorting out the whole coordination thing. He seems to think getting people to and from the wedding will be fine- but taxis there are vvv expensive! I looked into the Rallaren but thought the guy there was not very friendly, don't know if this was because he spoke little English or just because he is unfriendly but we decided to go for the Ditt Jarnvagshotellet in the end- was a lot cheaper too. Some of our family esp my dad kept trying to convince us to have a "traditional" wedding and some people were unsure about the cold but they all seem to be excited now! We paid 25% to confirm details, then the balance is due 6 weeks before. Smile

Hey Mrs Monkey, that's a good price even though the food side of things is not accounted for yet. I haven't heard of that hotel for the guests so I'll check it out. The hotels in Kiruna don't look very special although it's only for 3 nights for the guests so they can put up with it or pay the extra to stay at ice hotel!!!! Did you book guests hotel through the tour operator or direct with the hotel? I'm not sure how to go about the guests bit. Did you just tell them the tour operator details and let them book it themsleves for your dates or what way did you do it? I don't want to pay deposits for people who may pull out in the ned if you catch my drift...rather they sorted it themselves and settled their own balances. I loved your website-such a lovely idea. Have you seen any of the ice hotel photographers pictures or website?
