How far along are you with yours?
Perhaps we should trade ideas!?

Hi!
I'm from Neath and getting married in Aug 2009. We've booked that and the church. Also booked photographers- a few of our relatives/friends have used them and the portfolios really impressed me. Still looking for florist though so recommendations would be gratefully received! It's so good to find other South Wales brides- sometimes feels like some of the mags forget to mention suppliers in Wales!
For invites I'm planning to make my own (think I must be mad!) using wedding crafter website for supplies- does anyone have any tips on this?
As for themes- currently undecided between Sinatra/Bond/ Christmas (even though the wedding's in August- is that too weird?!) but I love purple so that'll have to feature somewhere!!!
Good luck with planning! It'd be great to help each other out along the way! x

Hi, I'm from Caerphilly and we'll be getting married on 10th May 2008 in castell Coch. Got pretty much everything booked except for the chair covers, the suits and the bridesmaid dress (long story - she's pregnant and due in Feb so growing bigger every day, making dress fittings a logistical nightmare!)
I'm having my flowers from Bettys Floris on Cowbridge Road East, Cardiff. met them at the wedding fayre at the CIA and they had some really beautiful arrangements and reasonable prices.
I'd definately recommend you attend the wedding fayres as they have loads of ideas and often do deals on prices there.
I also highly recommend Berketex Bridalwear in Cardiff - the manager, Claire, was fab and made the process of choosing a dress much more enjoyable. Good luck x

Hi, I'm originally from Bridgend and will be getting married in spring 2009. My sister is also getting married this November in Miskin Manor so I'm asking her for lots of tips. She has recommended A J Guttridge Flowers in Bridgend (www.guttridgeflowers.com) - they have been very helpful and produce lovely bouquets etc.
Also found out today that there is a wedding fayre at The Vale Hotel this sunday (October 14th) so there will probably be lots of information there.

Hello- think that there might be a wedding fair in Marriott Swansea this Sunday so that might be useful depending on where you're living!
Don't suppose anyone has heard of anyone using either RSVP or Totally Coordinated for table decorations or chair covers? x

Oh my god girls it is so wonderful to speak to girls who live in the area and we are going through the same thing. All the venues mentioned are fabulous especially miskin Manor i went to a wedding there last month it was lovely its just a shame it rained. The hotel also gave the bride and groom (my cousins) Royal Dalton Crystal Champagne flutes in their bedrooms it was put on the bed after they went down to the ceremony to get married and said 'Congratulations from all staff at the Miskin Manor@ how lush is that.
I am just starting out thinking of my wedding and to be honest need all th help i can get. Going to get married 2010 Bond and hollywood theme. I am also looking at the Piory Golf club in a huge Marquee it is fab and they dress the Marquee to the colours that you want for your wedding.
Im Originally from Port Talbot but have moved to Briton Ferry Neath with H2B.
So what are you girls doing as a theme and colours ??
And gutridges in my opinion in bridgend have the best flowers bouquets in the south of wales :)) i think thats who im going to go with

Im using RSVP for my chair covers. I have found that they are better quaility than others with more choice of colours for the sashes. found her prices were good also.

Hi there
I'm getting married at Llandaff Cathedral on Nov 16th - less than 6 weeks time!!! And having my reception at Miskin Manor. Everything is obviously booked.....I'm using Cardiff M for the disco, Gary and Sue Williams for photography, VIP wedding cars and Thornes Florist in Llandaff North for flowers (very reasonably priced!).
I must have visited 20 bridal shops in Cardiff, Caerphilly and Swansea so can recomend lots of shops according to budget so just ask!
The only thing I can't organise is the weather - I'm just hoping it will be dry!

Hello,
I'm Claire, from Swansea. I got engaged over the weekend in Brecon - all romantic and lovely! We are thinking about planning our wedding for next year, nothing to fussy, just something small, personal and minimalist. We are going to be looking at possible venues over the weekend, can't believe how excited I am :)
Possible venues at the moment are Craig-Y-Nos Castle, Wormshead Pub, Eddie's Cafe and possibly the Glamorgan Arms - all totally different, but we are still in the early planning stage - still waiting for my other half to write his list of people he wants to attend!!
Castell Coch - my friend got married there - it was really magical, a great day!
Great website!!
Hope to get lots of tips from this site!!
Claire x

Congratulations ClaireM1980! GLillyC-Well done on posting this originally! We went to wedding in the Priory this summer and it was fab- marquee really nicely done and food gorgeous! And future in laws went to a Bond themed fundraiser there a few months ago- it was fab! They had done it out with all the drapes on ceiling of marquee and apparently one of the men living in one of the posh houses nearby has awesome Aston Martin that they convinced him to drive over and do display for the boys who love toys! Also had casino tables hired there!
We were considering Bond (post above) but we're both big Frank fans so leaning towards Sinatra at the mo!
Thanks for the recommendation for RSVP- they do seem very good- going to attempt to finalise budget this weekend then contact them for more accurate quote!
As for flowers- one of my friend is using Erica Reynolds for her wedding- she's supposed to be great! I'm umming and ahhing about either Jonathans in Skewen or Flower Box Port Talbot- anybody know of anyone who's used them?!
Sorry for long post- think it's all the excitement!!!! :-)

ive had flowers from flower box before and they were lovely and the women were friendly which is always nice, so id say go for it .
Lady L i checked out the photographers website i like those photos because i dont want the traditional all my family standing together then his how boring is that.
I think this is great that there are so many girls i the south of wales that are in the same boat as me and only just starting looking and thinking of things.
But am i the only one who finds this scary the planning i mean not the wedding. Im like what if it goes wrong, how much is this gonna cost, what if people dont like this and that # Scary
And Thanks on the feed back about the Priory Sunshine80 thats good to know because i went to see the owners on my own and decided i liked it but i always knew i wanted black and white .The owner was lovely he gave me ideas of what to do and told me about florists and cakes and things. He told me about the Bond night and told me to come down and see the photos and things. OH MY GOD thats all i could say i took H2B he was the same so that swayed that for me i knew i had to have the reception there :))
Suoer excited

I am a south wales bride, still inthe planning stages at the moment...looking at St Mellons country club, the new house hotel, the vale hotel and a few others...still in the looking stage at the moment hoping to marry in June 2009. Also going to the bridal fayre in millenium centre in cardiff, have been to three already- very helpful but little bit scary when you realise how much you have to plan and book before the big day but loads of good places around the S wales area xx

Im from Newport area and getting married in Feb 2009, wooo i cant wait!! Ive looked at Canada Lodge and Castell Coch but havent found out a lot more about them. Do you know how many guests they hold?
We're looking at St Pierre (Chepstow) It looks really beautiful!!
Did you go to the millenium centre wedding fayre? I thought it was pretty good but quite small and not much there to inspire us!! Eeeek so much to plan and sort out, its overwhelming!!!!!

I don't know how many Canada Lodge holds exactly but I think it must be quite alot as we've got 120 guests so far and were considering it (prob wouldn't have looked otherwise). Have you seen St Pierre yet? We looked there a couple of weeks ago and it is absolutely beautiful - however, it's a bit far for us (coming from Bridgend takes about an hour) and a bit above our budget. I still keep thinking about it though, it's a lovely venue!!

Hi girlies, I have just booked my wedding for next July in the Orangery at Margam Park in port talbot. I'm so excited and we have so much to do! Luckily the orangery provide a excellent brochure with loads of info on local contacts. A really good company was 1st class weddings.co.uk, they do everything from chair covers etc...
The only thing i'm struggling with is a photographer, any suggestions? Luc xx
