While we have allowed make-up artists to come onto the site to offer advice, this has always been on the understanding that they would not solicit for business. Despite our reasonable requests, soliciting is still taking place, which is unfair both to our brides and to our advertisers. So we must remind you again that posts which solicit (whether directly for their own or for a colleague with whom they have a business link eg shared website) will be removed, and, if they persist, we'll have no choice but to deactivate the relevant accounts. This is definitely not something we want to do, but there has to be one rule for all, and if the rules are broken, then we have to act.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation with this, you've all done a great job of reporting posts which break the rules.

I have looked high and low on this site for makeup artists in the Suppliers section and i can't find any.
I for one would be interested in advertising on this website but there does not seem to be a facility......so i am wondering when a makeup artist is being recommended by another artist exactly what 'advertisers' this is unfair to?
Could you tell me how artists CAN go about advertising on here.
Thanks

Hi Juliet

We're in the process of adding a new section into our supplier directory where we can add free listings for hair and make up artists. This should be ready in the new year.

I'm sure you understand that we have to maintain the policy of keeping the chatroom free from advertising as it's unfair to our brides2b if they ask for a genuine recommendation and receive a response from someone promoting their own business (either blatantly, or under the guise of being a fellow bride2b).

And any form of advertising on the chatroom is also unfair to the other advertisers who pay for the privilege of advertising in the approproate slots on the site (eg the banners).

Thanks
Web Ed

I would agree that recommendations from other brides only should be allowed. I have had many problems finding a hairdresser/make up artist and, because you only have one shot at it, you are pretty much relying on genuine recommendations. Anything that is not genuine is preying upon the worries of brides who are in a vulnerable position and I know two people who have been let down very badly by false advertising (not on this site but on others).

i dont understand this...as if you dont advertise for make-up and hair yet then where are the brides that want help from this site supossed to go??

if help can be offered and there is such posts asking for make-up reccomendations how are we as brides or bride to bes supposed to reply to them if we cant say who?

Im here to offer advice and have been a member before a while ago but rejoined again and now i feel if i give my advice on who to contact you will think i am soliciting,or anyone else for that matter.

i know many make-up artists so if i say so does this mean im advertising for them..i dont get it

I am not a hair or make up person but a bride to be who has come across this topic while searching.

I think it is silly what you can and can't write in these forums. I have just setup a wedding suppliers review site where brides and B2B can submit reviews on suppliers they use and would like to either recomend or warn others. It is completely free and not a business as I make no money from it however I am not allowed to tell anyone about it on here even if its so useful.

Its the only one of its sort but trying to make people aware is so hard and its not a threat to YAYW or any other business unless they get hundreds od bad reviews.

None of the big websites will let me even pay for advertising with them so I am just hoping people find it or email meif they want the link.

The forums are fantastic for chat and sharing ideas though and I guess thats what they are for x

I find this so frustrating as I'm having SUCH big problems in trying to find a hair and make up artist for my day next year :O( i'm really starting to worry now as time is running out and people are getting booked up left right and centre.

I'm getting married in Essex and will be getting ready in Woodford Green so if anyone can recommend anyone who does hair and make up as a package can they please email me directly? joives1980@gmail.com

Can I just say, that its the limitation that you place - that actually result in us getting bad advice. If these limitations didnt exist, the people promoting their business would promote, and the people recommending would recommend and then we would know the difference!!! Perhaps more time should be spent on the structure of the site!!

I am a qualified make up artist/beautician but do not actually work doing that anymore (expect for close family and freinds very very rarely) but I think its just rude to solicit on these sites and how good are they if they are having to tout for buiness??
