Hello,

We are having our wedding reception at Alverbank Country House Hotel in Alverstoke - anyone else chosen the same place? Any thoughts on your colour schemes?

hoorayyyyyy...a wedding venue twin...when's your wedding?? Mines not till July 2009! I'm so excited though. I love the marquet room with all the sparkles on the ceiling. We are having a bbq there and getting married in the gardens out the front, because our legal ceremony is in hawaii a week later.

What colours are you going for? xx

uhh sounds luverly. i know it gets a bit crazy when you start thinking about everything - makes me panic a bit. I've managed to sort hair already and i think flowers. Been dress shopping too which was great fun. Going for a deep purple theme i think - wanted green but thought it might clash with the blue ceiling.

Are u local?

It's such fun - A Bride to Bee in Warsash were amazing in case thats useful.....lady made me try on loads of styles to see which i liked best.

I live in Pompey, Baffins - H2B's family are all in Stubb though, so Alverbanks close to them. x

my wedding dress was ordered from arvella so now its going through brides of ports.. so lucky arvella even ordered it.. got my bridesmaids dresses from bride to bee..had to call them yest for reassurance lol.

need to find somwhere for flwoers as the florist i was going to have doesnt take cred card.. after the arvellla fiasco im not going to use anyone who doesnt take a cc.

Hey girls,

Ivory 13-12-08 - Yey another Alverbank Bride - ohh Christmas sounds lovely - and with the christmas pudding - it will be gorgeous. Your colours sound nearly identical to mine - i'm having purple, silver and ivory! I think they go well with the blue sparkly ceiling!

I know a florist very close to Alverbank, called By Arrangement - it's a friend of the guy who sits next to me at work - she apparently does lots of Alverbank weddings and is really good, have seem some of her work before and it looks lovely. He's out of the office today, but if you give me a few hours ill text him for her number. She's called Steph. She has a shop so i'm sure she would take cc - although i haven't asked her yet. I'm told she's very reasonably priced too : )

You poor thing with the Arvella dress - i heard a store in Lymington had gone under but had no idea it was them - my friend gets married in Oct 08 and her dress is from there - they were rude to her a few weeks back. Must ask her now if her dress is ok....it's so awful. I bet your heart sank.....it's great the you can still get it though - Brides of Portsmouth were ereally nice went in thgere and A Bride to Bee too....i tried my dress there and they were amazing!

Unfortunately i won't be at the fair on the 6th - i'm in Scotland for a freinds wedding! You'll have to let me know if you get any tips ladies!

Thirsty4.....sizes of dresses are a problem! I found some shops had good sizes up to a 16/18 like A Bride to Bee and they just put a cushion in then if its too big, but although Brides of Portsmouth were good - all the dresses i tried were a 6/8 and there was noooooooo way i was squeezing in them so bits were just left hanging out so to speak! Not great for the confidence! Hope you get on ok with the next shops : )

Hey again

He text back - the number for Steph at By Arrangement is 02392 520123. She said to me it would be best to go in and she can show you some ideas, pictures etc and go through things in the store and just to let her know a bit before i went in, so she knew to expect me : ).

Hope that helps

Hey Lucky, and Thirsty4 ,i think this is the shop that is my nearest florist i went to her originally but she never got back to me with quote. will go in there again and ask. csnt remember what time the cams hall fair is but they are norm between 10 and 4 will find the card later and give a def time.

When you get dress ideas post links so we can have a peek lol. i still love looking at dresses even though i have mine.. heres a link to my dress. coincidentally i only saw this dress ina n arvella advert in perfect weddings and as son i saw it i knew it was my dream dress, otherwise i would never have seen it---

Ahh ur dress is gorgeous Ivory13-12-08 - very princess like and glamourous : ). Perefct for a winter wedding too. My friends dress form Arvella was a Sophia Tolli too- her dresses are stunning. I just asked her and she said hers is fine too and being delivered to another store, so she's happy.

Here's my dress for the party at Alverbank...but in Ivory:

and for the actual ceremony abroad:

I ordered them both online from America, which i'm a bit nrevous about, but i thought if i order early then i can do something about it if theres a problem! They were soooo much cheaper that way - couldn't afford it otherwise!

Ahh that's a shame if Steph never got back to you - maybe try her again - maybe it was a mistake or something?? I get the feeling she's usually pretty good : )

xx
