I'm sure that this is a bit controversial and I do apologise deeply if it offends. This will be my 1st wedding but my partner's second and I worry that with him having been there and done that so to speak he won't feel as excited as he did before... I know this is probably just me worrying and he has said that because his first marriage failed he knows with huge certainty that this one won't because of how much stronger he feels for me than he did for the ex but I guess I just wanted some reassurance on the matter and a bit of understanding.

Apologies in advance if this implies any disrespect at all

Hi Jo

This was something I worried about to start with - this is C's second marriage as well. He was widowed after just 15 months of marriage, so in addition to it possibly not being as special this time around, I was also concerned that it would be painful for him to go through some of these steps again.

I think we've worked through it now, and all though I am doing the bulk of the organisation, he is evry much involved and we have created a day with lots of touches that are meaningful for us individually and as a couple. It helps that although we're having a lot of people for a big celebration, we are keeping the whole thing as relaxed and as personal as possible, which includes involving lots of friends and family members. Also, his inside knowledge of how these things work has been quite useful on occasion!

I would try not to worry - he's saying all the right things, and you can't change the past so don't dwell on it - just get on with creating an amazing day for the two of you as a partnership.

this is my second marriage and my partners first so the other way round to you but if it helps, I am by far more excited this time round than I was the first. I know my h2b is absolutely right for me and I'm going all out for the best day ever. And there is no comparison to my first wedding at all.
Hope this helps

It was both of our second marriages but I was divorced and h2b a widower. I thought he wasn't particularly excited- but that is a man thing with weddings.
On the day he was so moved when he saw me and he told our daughter in law he hadn't imagined what a perfect day it would be.

moral of the tale- worry not it will be brilliant

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Second for me and first for him and I am beyond excited. My mother and fiance seemed to make all the decisions first time around.

If it helps, my dad got remarried a couple of years ago. It was his third marriage after my parents divorced and his 2nd wife died. In the run up to the wedding, while he might have seemed calm to his now wife, he just had the biggest goofy grin on his face when talking to me about it.

It's the second time around for both of us.... I am soooo excited this time around - because I've finally found the man of my dreams (took me a while!) It really doesn't compare to the first time (for H2B too) so I know you have nothing to worry about
