Subject: Is anyone having a Wedding Creche???
Hi Everyone...me again!!!!

Im posting this here on the basis that I think a wedding creche is a bit of a nice to have, rather than a luxury - hope you can help.

Im trying to get all of the major budget bits out of the way and costed and one of the things Im now thinking about is a wedding creche. Ideally, I wouldnt have children at the wedding (controversial I know, but thats just my view) but H2B wants kiddies there, so they will be there on the day. Weve compromised by agreeing to have a wedding creche which will be for children 5 -12. The plan is to have this during the meal and speeches. They will have their dinner and be entertained with face painting / games etc. What I wanted to know was whether any of you plan to do the same and if so, how much I might be expected to pay for the privledge???

Also, I dont have children (yet!!) but what do you guys think about the whole concept - do you think that mothers (and children too I guess) would be keen to go in a separate room for the meal / speeches?

All thoughts appreciated as always.

xx

Our children are eating with us and then leaving before the speeches to go to the bouncy castle etc. There will also be a playroom set up for them.

I would be keen to hear if anyone else has done this. We are having 5, possibly 7 children at our wedding, all FIL2B grandchildren who are aged 18 months to 9 years, and he has asked us what we are planning to do about childcare.

I sort of thought that the childcare would be the responsibility of the children's parents, and I honestly didn't think that we would have to organise anything. But I guess it might just be easier to say we've hired a creche, so no one has to worry, and it will keep FIL2B from moaning that his grandchildren aren't provided for. I do sort of begrudge spending money on it though as we are paying for accommodation for all the children and their parents (that's just me being a scrooge though!). But anyways, what have other brides done?

30-40 is a lot!!! We're thinking there'll be about 5-7, though not sure yet.

Our venue comes with a babysitter, so not quite a creche. The kids will have a dedicated table that's to the side of the main room so they'll be close to us for the meal, and then they have an outdoors play area and a games room with a TV/ DVD player for later. The babysitter starts when we arrive at the venue and stays as late we need her to so the parents can keep on having fun!

Can your venue provide any sort of creche service for you so you don't have to worry about it?

I think I'm going to try to give all the kids little goodie bags too to keep them busy during the meal.

Good luck!

I've been looking at them. We're just having a couple of hours over the ceremony. Not the speeches. Although we're working on that.

It's working out at £150-£300 which I don't think is bad.

If I had told all the Mum's they couldn't eat in the room and hear the speeches I think there would be more outcry than if you said no children.

We had 10 children at our wedding ranging from 11 months up to 9 years, we sat them with their parents and got each child an activity bag. They were fine for the meal and the speeches and all well behaved and we had also set up a colouring/ craft table too. Once the disco started they danced away.

mrsaa those are the only children from both mine and H2Bs families! Goodness knows what I'd do if I had to organise childcare for 30-40 children, you are a braver lady than I!

We're both the youngest generation of our families, and in mine the youngest person is my cousin who is 19, and the eldest is me at 25, and we're all far too young to have children! On H2Bs side it's just his bro and sis and cousin that have children, 3, 2 and 2 respectively. His bro, sis and cousin are our generation but a bit older aged 32, 28 and 27.

No other children to cater for apart from theirs, which does make me feel quite lucky, it was more the sense of entitlement that FIL2B had when he was telling us that we had to arrange childcare for his grandchildren that got me!

MRCJ is guess £300 isn't too bad, just means less money for our honeymoon which p's me off!

Not sure why you needa Creche with only 7 Children. Surely its the parents responsibillity to look after their kids at the wedding. I also have 10 Children at our wedding as we are only having children of immediate family but the children vary in ages and I am sure that my niece and nephews would not like to be split from their parents and not be part of the dinner and speeches.
