Hi Peter!

Firstly, my fiance wants to wear a 3 piece navy lounge suit, but my family thinks this will look like he's off to work or to a funeral. Have you any advice about how to make it more weddingy (he won't wear a cravat and I detest swirly waistcoats!!)

Secondly - who pays for the boys' suits? I bought my bridesmaids' dresses, does this mean we also cover the menswear?!

Thanks!!

Hi! My h2b is absolutely at a loss as to what to wear! We are getting married in a barn in october, so he feels a morning suit would be a bit too much. He's a traditional sort of boy, don't think he'd like anything that was too out there. Hope you can help, he's worked himself up about it

Hello,
My fiancé is English and is wearing a grey suit, and I am Scottish and having a Bridesman, who wants to wear a kilt. How can I make sure that everyone knows who the groom is? And how can I make sure that he stands out next to my bridesman?
Thank you!

Hi!
I think that your husband has made a good choice with a 3 piece blue lounge suit. What your family may be failing to remember is that accessories will mark your fiancé out as the groom, specifically his choice of tie and pocket square, but most notably his boutonnière.
He should consider a lighter tie and pocket square (silver can be a classy option) and a white shirt, as a light tie is rarely if ever utilised at the office or a funeral.

As for who pays for the suits, it really depends on your own circumstances. If the groom can afford to, he should cover the cost of the suits, but if not, he shouldn't feel compelled. If he does opt to have the ushers buy their own, it is important to ensure they are at a spend level that they will be comfortable with.

Hope this advice helps!

Hi Maggie,
A barn wedding has a country feel, so your husband should look to match his suit to the environment of the wedding. He may want to consider a dark brown three piece, as it matches most men’s natural colouring, and brown tends to be a “country” colour.
If he is feeling a bit more adventurous, he could go for a check tweed or tweed herringbone. Suits of this type will certainly complement the setting, and ensure that the groom stands out from the rest of the guests, while maintaining a traditional look.
If he is getting stressed, make sure he goes for a colour that he already tends to favour in his wardrobe. It is very important that he feels happy and confident in his wedding suit!

Hello Mrs Weait2Be,

I would suggest in this case to differentiate your groom’s boutonnière, opting for a flower that is grander than that of the bridesman. Also, if your bridesman is not giving you away, please ensure that whoever is stands at the altar between you and him, this will instantly give visual reference that he is not the groom.

Hi
My H2B would like all the groomsen having identical suits to him, I'm just worried he won't stand out as the Groom if he has the same colour waistcoat, cravat and hankerchief. His choice of suit and accessories is lovely I'm just unsure on all 7 of them being completely identical, will this look strange?

Hi Peter,

My h2b is wearing a grey suit with cadbury purple ruche tie. He's looking at shoes and wants to wear a tan brown but is worried it won't look formal or appropriate. What do you think?

Thanks
