My dad died 3 years ago, we've been talking about getting married we have to have a Roman Catholic Wedding in Northern Ireland as H2B parents are elderly and unable to tavel. Just to make things worse I don't speak to my family anymore not since my fathers death.

Do I walk myself down the ailse? Help!

Emma.

Do you have a close friend who could do it? Do you still speak to your mum?

Someone i knew was really close to her H2Bs family and her FIL2B actually walked her down the aisle!

I don't speak to my mum, and FIL too frail but I may ask an old friend as his daughter would be B'maid & son Usher.

Could you walk on your own? There are a few girls on here that are doing that, I think Special Sundae is one of them. Maybe you could post in GC and see if anyone comes back to you?

Or does the Roman Catholic church insist that somme one walks down there with you?x

Just realised I didn't post in GC!! To be honest I don't know if it's a requirement for me to walk with someone. I don't think I could do it on my own :S.

Thanks for your response.

my son who will be 19 will be walking me down the aisle. things have been strained with me and my family for the last three years so i feel it would be hypocritical to have my dad doing it. My son is my absolute best friend and we have been through many ups and downs together so it just fits that he does it xx

Maybe a close family friend? Or a relative of your H2B? My daughter walked me down the ailse and it was absolutely the perfect thing to do.

My nephew is giving me away, because I have never had a close relationship with my dad & he is like a little brother.

Havign someone else, or no one, give you away is becoming very popular. Not as in a "trend," just that so many people don't want/can't have their fathers there. I think it's lovely!

If I wasn't so close to my nephew I'd walk myself I'm also crazy independent so it would be fitting haha!

It was my second wedding and my 18 year old son walked me down the aisle. The only other people I had with me were my daughter ( who is 19) and my 9 year old son...and it flet so right.

If it hadnt of been them it would of been a clsoe family friend.....
