Yes, we're paying a fee of £50 to the church so we can video our ceremony. I guess the fee varies though and our church is quite expensive overall.

Think of it as a sort of compensation to those who aren't guests at your wedding for being filmed, i.e. Vicar, organist, verger, etc.

Also, have they told you to get a wedding video licence?
Our church insist on seeing a copy of the licence before they will consent to the ceremony being filmed. This is for copyright reasons, relating to hymns and music. Our licence cost less than £30 and we got it from www.wvrl.co.uk.
If you're planning to film your reception and will be playing music, you will need to make sure the licence covers that as well.

Hope that helps x

Our church is charging us £50 also which I am a little disappointed with considering how much they are charging us in total. I can't say no though as the church means so much to me. I was unaware as to a licence, but it sorts of makes sense. When I see my vicar, I'll have to ask him.

Hello

We have to pay the church. And pay the choir double because they are being filmed.

It is quite common for churches to charge to have the service recorded i have even heard of some charging upto £150 but i do think that the set standard is £50 set by the Church of England.
It is because the service it self is copyrighted!

Just got my church fees, by having a video it is costing us £260 more than it would. Bringing the church fees to a grand total of £997.50. X

Good old churches - give them money and they'll do anything!
