Subject: Anyone else training to be a nurse and wedding planning?
I'm just starting my third year, and due to having to wait until a house sale that took FOREVER to complete I decided to book the wedding the week after I (hopefully) finish for summer holiday.

Is anyone else mad like me and wedding planning around a dissertation as well as placement?

My wedding is booked for 10th August, which is the end of a "reading week" and afterwards is our 6 weeks off where we wait to be registered.

Already coming up awkward as the bridal sale is mid-placement so will have to beg to have the day off placement to go and get my dress half price. Agony having to wait for it as it's in November!

Hey there Moomin!

I'm training to be a teacher so am feeling the mad/pressure as well! Got dissertation before Xmas then a 10 week placement so thankfully am finished by April and wedding is in August (2nd) but all I want to do is plan, I don't want to work!

Also my dress is due in end of Jan/beginning of Feb just as placement starts so won't be able to come get it until April - booo!

Does feel rather crazy but I can't wait to start proper grown up life after graduation & marrying

Hey ladies, im just starting my 3rd year too. Im doing childrens nursing, and i love it but it's soooo frikking hard! Our big day is on the 18th; our 7 year anniversary and literally the day after my last day of placement (cutting it fine, i know ), so im trying to get as much as possible sorted now while im only in uni 1 day every fortnight. Although im sure they'll give us plenty of work to fill up those 2 week gaps haha, so maybe not haha!
& I aggree mrsstone2b, i ABSOLUTELY cannot wait to graduate, get hitched then get a job and earn money ahahaha! Never been so skint in my life, AND student loans/bursaries go down in 3rd year (which sucks for anyone, but especially when your paying for a wedding!!)so by all means, if you feel like a chat or a moan etc then count me in as i'm in the same boat

Aw it makes me feel better that i'm not the only one! People tell me i'm mad for doing it all at once. Especially being only 21. It's mostly the being with him for 5 years this christmas eve that is making me want to do this all soon.

I've booked it so i have a week to hopefully sort out last minute bits/have my spa hen day. I'm not really into all the getting drunk hen type stuff, I think after a year of being on my feet with this and placement i'd quite like a nice weekend away where i'm pampered and i'm the one being looked after for a change!

Sorry to hear about the job freeze Gem, whereabouts are you? I'm hoping to get a job in the East Kent community trust.. or Kent community trust as they just merged.

Funnily enough discovered our wedding photographer runs a NHS home/respite/rehab unit as her day job which is where i want to work so will try and get in her favour ready for job hunting next year! Only met her yesterday and found out, it seems like it was meant to be, and she is going to be booked definitely.

I'm just going to get all the essays/group presentation prep done as soon as I can and then wedding planning can be done around an "unmarked" 4 week placement at the end of the year, usually in the place you go to work.

Anyone else going for a theme too? x

I'm starting my Phd in january (psychology) so have years of hard work ahead, wedding is planned for June, no idea how everything will pan out, but have managed the last 4 years of juggling study with work and life so here goes..

hey ladies, I have just qualified and graduated as a nurse (finished july this year), started my job as a staff nurse 1st august and wedding is in 26 days! Its been manic and planning the wedding, doing the dissertation and doing placement all at the same time was so hard but I can't wait to our day. It finally feels like I am getting somewhere! When you finally qualify it all feels worth it but now being out in the real world, having responsibility, I want to be a student again! (although getting paid for once is great!)
good luck to all of you
happy planning!

you took the words right out of my mouth hun, i'm doing exactly the same but the weekend before the wedding. so we'll be staying local, spending saturday shopping in chester, then out for a meal & few drinks (no L plates or bejewelled Tshirts allowed! at most, i will wear a veil merely for comedic purposes lol), then stay over, and Sunday having a big relaxing treatment sesh haha. Bliss!!

I take my hat off to you ladies! I've been qualified nurse for a year and have been planning this since the end of my 3rd year at uni. I found it hard enough with placements & assignments. I didn't opt for the degree in the end for moneys sake, but at least it hasn't affected my progression at work. Planning on finishing my degree after I get married. I don't know how you are writing a dissertation & wedding planning!!
