Which conventional wedding things do you really dislike?

Hope I don't offend anybody here with the things I don't like

1. Chair sashes. I really can't stand them.

2. Strapless wedding dresses. They look lovely on other people, but I never wear strapless, and would spend the whole day feeling uncomfortable and hoisting it up. Unfortunately 99% of dresses seem to be strapless!

3. Cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. I'm sure this was really cute when it was first done, but it's overdone now. We're going to be unconventional by having a traditional fruit wedding cake!

4. Certain types of wedding photography. I don't want any of the preparation shots. I imagine I'll feel so nervous and flustered getting ready, the last thing I'll want is somebody taking my photo! I'm not obsessed with shoes, so I really don't need "that" picture of my shoes. Yawn. The first photo can be when I arrive at the venue - hopefully this will make our photographer cheaper too
Selective colour photography - ie. when it's b&w but the bouquet or whatever is in colour. Makes me cringe.

Which things do you dislike?

Cakes made of cheese!

The bride looking like Jordan with over the top spray tan, hair extensions and fake nails!

But to each their own I guess, I can imagine some people won't like aspects of my wedding either x

chav suits with bride, MOH & bridesmaid on! just tacky

Cuflinks with groom,bestman etc WHY? we all know who you are

Internet speaches. A speach should be personal and come from the heart

Bride & groom foil balloons I cring when I see them sat on the top table

Space Hoppers for "Fun" B&G shot

Dog ring bearers

OMG I could go on for hours, being an ex wedding planner the list is endless

fake religion, most people haven't seen the inside of a church since their christening but pretend to be all godly and sing hymns.
Chair sashes - again
matchy matchy - - - match chair sashes to bridesmaids sashes, to cake ribbon, to flowers, to orders of service etc etc etc
brides who turn up at the altar looking the exact opposite to the girls their guys go out with, ie hairsprayed hair, fake tan, false everything, the poor guys must wonder who the hell they are!

and...

when everything goes perfect! its much more fun to have some big disaster you can look back on and laugh about

Some of the things I'm having are aleady mentioned here which has made me laugh. I love chair sashes but not having everybody and everything matching them, so I agree with you there. If I was a bridesmaid I wouldn't be too happy being matched to the coloured table runner .

Bridget_Bride I've told our photographer that I don't want any preparation shots either, and said her first picture of me can be me arriving at the venue. She looked a bit surprised, but nobody needs to see me "before", I look like that all the time I also don't need a picture of my shoes

Oh no BeccaBarrett12, we are having a cake of cheese we think we're being a bit different

I don't like photos of bridal groups running or jumping in the air.

I could go on but I'd better stop. I'm pretty sure my whole wedding will be listed here by other people eventually. Still, long as everybody enjoys their own wedding that's what matters

There is another one of these threads some where else and there were LOADS of replies!

I think that just because someone else thinks something is tacky or crass doesnt mean it actually is! Everyone's idea of a "perfect" day is different!

Personally I am having chair sashes, only because chair covers would look rubbish without them!

My BM's are in Navy blue, the chair sashes are Navy blue, the ribbon on my cake is Navy blue.... oh thats cos my theme is White and Navy blue!

I am having preperation shots because I have heard a million times the day goes so quickly and I want to remember it from start to finish!

But there are somethings you have mentioned that I dont like which are:

-Jumping/Group Waving photos
-Balloon arches or just balloons in general
-Garter shots... actually I dont see the point of a garter at
all
-Adele... yes I am talking about the singer, all of her songs
are about being dumped why would I want to hear that a my
wedding?
-Animals - I am talking about cats/dogs/owls/trained monkies
what ever you want I just dont see why anyone would want an
animal at their wedding
-Singing friends/children at the ceremony, no thanks makes me
cringe
-"crazy" first dances.... you know the kind I mean

i did however have a cheese tower (as i hate cake) but we had a beach relaxed wedding in cornwall so it was served on a slab of wood and suited the venue.

i also hate those dresses with the see through bodice yikes!!! theres so much more i hate but dont want to go on x

I now want a monkey at my wedding !!

admitedly it would be a spectical to have a monkey but then I think he'd show everyone up and it would all be "about the monkey"

Flat shoes on bride or bridesmaids

Top hats
Releasing doves (too much cheese)
Fruit wedding cake yuk! ( Im having chocolate fudge )
Navy suits
