Subject: Irish Traditions
Hi

I'm half Irish and getting married in the uk. Although my mum is Irish she has spent nearly all her life in the uk. My nanny never ever called England her home and never really left her homeland. As she is no longer with us I would like to include an Irish tradition in our wedding day in her memory. Can anyone suggest anything? I was at a funeral Ireland recently and they only suggested traditions we have her too ie something borrowed....

Any help gratefully received

Hiding a horse shoe in your bouquet for good luck, soup & soda bread as a starter, Irish blessings on the tables (May the road always rise to meet you etc), Readings from Irish poets e.g. WB Yeats (Had I the Heaven's embroidered cloths, enwrought with golden and silver light). Keeping the top tier of your wedding cake for christening of your first child, kickstart your evening with an Irish ceili or irish dancers... There's loads! Good luck! Xx
