Well it's hard to say, as all the girls on here class different budgets as a big budget, what may be a big budget to one bride is a small budget to another!

What shops were you thinking of going to in London? I was gutted selfridges closed their bridal department.

I was on a big budget, but decided to get a second hand designer dress (therefore saving a lot of money on a dress I would only wear once). The dress I wore was originally in the £2.5k range but I spent less than £600 on it and got what I wanted including alterations. I suppose I was lucky.

If you're in central London how about Pronovias shop off Oxford Street? Harrods have a bridal section, but a lot of people go there just to try dresses on in Harrods, so they are not very well maintained. There are lots of Bridal shops off Chiltern street just behind Oxford street, there are also wedding planners etc down there. You could visit Browns Bridal which stocks Vera Wang and is opposite Claridges.

I would say choose your dress from somewhere it is easy enough to go back to - so if you live in London, I probably wouldn't get your dress from Yorkshire, you'd be amazed how often you go back to try it on for fittings, to try on your veil, your shoes etc etc! Good luck

Hey, I bought mine from Vera Wang. Best thing to do if you have a big budget is order directly from the store in new York. Browns bride in London stock some of her collection and will ship over some of her dresses if you see others you like on web etc. they are very professional and precise with measurements and lots of try on's are not necessary as they're such experts x

Ps. The pronovias store near Oxford street was AWFUL read the other reviews online before you book there. They provide awful service and the dresses are all very discoloured and dirty. Hope this helps x

Just reminded, I also went to Harrods, and did not find 1 dress I liked, I walked out in the end,

The assistants working there, did show any excited about the whole experience.. And there wasn't much room to walk about either.

I've only ever heard negative reviews of Browns Bride, interesting to hear someone praise them!! The feedback seems to be that the staff there are exceptionally rude and snooty. I heard this personally from two friends (who didn't know each other) and on that basis did not book to go there.

I went to Candy Anthony in London as I knew I wanted a short dress, but just didn't really 'feel' it enough. Not sure why. Maybe I should have gone back a second time. I eventually got my dress made by Joanne Fleming in Brighton.

I had Suzanne Neville on my list to visit but cancelled my appointment - her dresses are such gorgeous fabrics and beautifully constructed, but I decided I definitely wanted to go short so seemed pointless to try on there.

I'm having my dress made by Joanne Fleming too!

I felt too intimidated to try Harrods and Browns, plus I wanted something unique.

Aw, say hello to her from me! Emma of the 'Emma' dress

She makes veils and hair accessories too if you need anything like that. She made giant hair flowers for my bridesmaids, they were fab.
