budget honeymoon-hotel ideas? help!

We have a tiny honeymoon budget and need help with ideas! we have £1100 maximum (hotel and flights) to get the two of us abroad at the start of may for 1 week. pref self catering. have you stayed in any nice hotels in europe that you'd recommend? any beautiful and romantic destinations you would recommend?

We went to Egypt at the beginning of may for a week all inclusive and had a fab time, it's not self catering but it may be an option. We stayed in a 4 star and got treated like royalty. We flew from Glasgow and paid under 1100

I love the Algarve, beautiful beaches and friendly people. Would recommend http://www.vilapetra.com/UK/ we stay there quite a bit, at that time of year it's 63 euros a night for a studio (bonus is that it has a completely separate kitchen with dishwasher, it's not all in one room). It has well deserved good reviews on TripAdvisor. It's in a fairly busy area of Albufeira (some call it the new town, some Montechoro, some Sao Jaoa) so there are restaurants on your door step. Approx 15 min walks to the beach, and you can walk/taxi to the old town, or there's a new marina on the other side. There's a place called Zoomarine where you can swim with dophins nearby. We also got a villa one year through http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/ and that may be within your budget if you can get some cheap flights. (Albufeira is about half hour taxi drive from Faro airport, probably looking at £30 each way, or could get shuttles cheap - have a look at http://www.resorthoppa.com/ or http://www.transfers4u.com/

Just found the villa we stayed in, it's not the most glamorous, it's quite traditional and is someone's home from home, but we loved that about it! The location was really good (near the Dom Pancho hotel) and we loved having a private pool. At that time of year it is £855, so again if you could get some cheap flights it would be within budget. I know a couple if people who love the Greek Islands like Rhodes and Corfu. Sun, beaches and old town shopping/exploring all for a good price. You need to stay on the right part of the island though to avoid the 'boozed up Brit abroad' town each one has.

What about Jersey as flights are cheap and it gets more sun than the rest of the uk?

We had the same honeymoon budget as you and are going for a week in the Azores staying at the Hotel Talisman on Sao Miguel, we've put contributions towards whale watching and dolphin swimming trips on our gift list. Unfortunately, we are flying from London Gatwick but we booked through www.holidaysplease.co.uk and they offered us quite a few different options for our budget based on what you wanted so it might be worth giving them a go.

Groupon and living social do brilliant escapes just hotels but.really good deals all over the world have a look it would be good

We went to the Tropicana Azure Club. It also has a sister hotel the Tropicana Grand Azure across the road. It is in one of the quiter areas but still has a good few pubs outside of the hotel. We really loved it. Cant recommend it more Good Luck

have you looked at a med cruise? you can get a msc cruise from various locations for around £349 cruise only and just need to pay for your flights ontop. Ive just priced mine up for october and its worked out at £1186 for both of us based on flights from manchester to nice x1night in nice than 7nights onboard in a balcony cabin. all food included!! its defo worth a look as the med cruise season starts in may and tends to be really cheap!
