Well I thought now would be as good a time as any to get started on my report...... It's 4am, and I'm awake with serious jet lag!! We returned from an amazing honeymoon on Sunday so this is the first chance I've had lol. having gone away the day after the wedding and not seeing anyone ive been dying to talk about it, so I hope you ladies enjoy it!!

Using this site gave me soooooooo many tips, bargains, advice and support over the last 12 months- I don't know how I will cope now the planning is all over. I loved browsing the newleyweds threads for ideas, and reading stories about how couples got together...... I'm a bit of an old romantic, so i want to in some way do the same...... So here I am braving it! Lol

I hope this will be jam packed with ideas, tips etc for everyone, and although I'm still awaiting the professional pics I will put in what I can xxxx

It started with a click.......the beginning

Quite simply, James and I met online. I had been single 2 years prior to our first acquaintance, having come out of a very tough time with a previous partner. I'd been with my ex, on and off for 8 years and 3 months into finally living together.... I found out he'd been cheating on me and gave him the boot!! I was utterly devastated, so I wanted a break, time on my own, and for a good while i was loving single life. I was only 26 then, id lost my mum at 22, and brought my little brother up alone in our family home. It was hell for a long long time....... so it was now time for ME. Most of my friends were in relationships or had children and I found myself feeling slightly lonely after a period of time.

when a work mate suggested going speed dating I thought it would be a right laugh. We got 2 tickets for tiger tiger in Manchester and off we went, not really expecting anything but we were completely open minded. I was always sceptical about these things.... I mean like anyone would or could have a serious relationship with someone they'd never seen before, let alone marry them... Right??!!!!

Well the men were, shall I say, a disaster and desperate!! So it was fun but no guy of any interest was there for me. We giggled all the way home.

The day after I received an email from the speed dating company saying 5 of the guys wanted to date me.... It wasnt something you exchanged on the night, it was done via computer afer the event. If i had chosen any of those it would then automaticall link us. Me - i picked none, but it gave me the confidence boost i needed. The email also mentioned that it was giving me a months free trial on an Internet dating website match.com. Hmmmmm I thought, only freaks, desperate people, and business men with no social life use these things- no way on this planet was I going to join, I mean, I had a good social life, my own home, a good career - I didn't need the Internet to help me find a bloke

within a 20 mile radius?????

Ok, so I joined. I even subscribed for 6 months.... I had lots of dates.... Some with really lovely genuine guys and some with guys who were lonely or a bit weird. I met a lot of 'nice' men but none that I had an attraction to or ticked the boxes in terms of what i Was looking for.. I quickly realised that using only some brief info and photos about yourself.... There needed to be some attraction of some kind, and some rapport..... I remember my first ever date, my friends, 3 of which were later to became my bridesmaids, rang me every half hour to check i was safe lol

I decided in the end not to renew my subscription as I felt once my 6 months were up, if I'd not met a guy or dated someone more than a few times consecutively then I'd return to the drawing board of single life..... I really didn't want to meet someone drunk in a bar or club..... so that was that! The end of online dating...... Although I didn't renew, my profile was still visible on the site.

The following week...... 'the' message popped up.... Single- check - attractive - check - similar interests - check - within a 20 mile radius - check! oh what to do........ Renew or ignore????? This could be very interesting

A date!

I renewed but made a pact with myself I wouldn't do it again - this time it was just a months.... I mean I was curious, he didn't ask the usual repetitive questions. So fast forward 2 weeks of emails, and a couple of phone calls, we arranged a date at the Albert Dock, Liverpool. It turned out I would be his first ever date since joining..... And his last

we had some amazing times together, and super holidays!!!

And then there were 3!!

Fast forward and James and I dated for 11 months, things were perfect..... Little did I know what came of joining a dating website, but a BABY!!! Yep, I found out I was pregnant in may 2008. We had our daughter Isobel the following February, and we're both so happy!!

Until I went back to work at is.... 3 weeks into returning and I hit a brick wall with post natal depression... And then James was made redundant from his job. It really is times like those tha define you as couple..... It was awful.... Some days I was so down That I started hating him, anyone who's had it will know what I mean..... but in time we got through it and lived as a happy little family
