North Wales Venue Help

I'm recently engaged and have just started looking at venues. Hoping for a 2013 wedding. We are thinking of a country house or barn type venue in North Wales/Cheshire area. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks x

congrats on your engagement!
We got married in crogen estate-it was amazing!
To sum it up:
Its a country estate that you have exclusive use of and then you have a marquee. Its a blank canvas so you do exactly what you want! this is what we did:

-we had the coach house (accomodation cottage) from thursday-monday over a bank hol weekend and allo family/bridal party stayed in this. Other friends stayed the the main house. We stayed in the honeymoon cottage which is lush!!

-Friday night- BBQ which was lovely ans relaxed
-Saturday wedding- we had 50 ceremony guests at 2, and then all other guests arrived at 330 for champage and canapes in the gardens and then moved into the marquee for the 3 course meal. There was a dj in the marquee (where I spent most of the night dancing away!!) and my older relatives went into the coach house garden for less noise! It was perfect and is such an under advertised venue!
Sarah the owener was fantastic throughout!
If you want something different and to plan your entire day around what you want then this is the venue for you!!

Sorry forgot to say, the morning of the wedding, some guests went fishing, and then the sunday after the wedding we went down to the river for a picnic and padle!!

We're having hendre hall, near Bangor. It's a beautiful building but basic, we're doing lots. For ourselves and bringing in our own catering, I'll let you know in June if I'd reccomend

I'd recommend Bodafon Farm Park in Llandudno. They're licensed for ceremony as well as being able to cater for parties up to 150 people. We were going to use them and it was only budget that stopped us. They have a Welsh barn, complete with a wagon wheel on the wall, and they do open-air BBQs etc. Plus, as it's a farm, they have llamas, cows and ducks and things - they said they'd do tractor rides for the kids into the evening. Defo worth a look?! But if you're looking for a country house, it's not quite that kind of place!

I forgot to mention where we're actually getting married! www.gwydircastle.co.uk Gwydir Castle in Llanrwst. It's being/been renovated by a couple and they can accommodate up to ten weddings a year. The gardens look amazing in the warmer months and there're peacocks strutting about! I hope. I didn't see any in November when we went to look round!

My brother got married at Hendre Hall a couple of years ago. it is basic but its a blank canvas so you can do so much to it. the back room with the balcony is lovely at night with a coal fire, absolutley gorgeous.

We're getting married at Faenol Fawr, Bodelwyddan and so far they have been so helpful. its a beautiful manor house hotel with lovely grounds.

I can reccommend both these places also! my other brother married at Gwydir castle and it was perfect, beautiful castle with gorgeous grounds and you can see right down the valley.

A friend got married at Bodafon farm and it fit perfectly with their theme. it was quite relaxed with bunting and country flowers type decor. they also had bouncy castle and bucking bronco. really lovely unique idea which fits the location perfectly.
