This is my first message on here so hey everybody!

I got engaged in November and now I've made the most of the newly-engaged high so starting to get down to the planning. We're planning for May 2013 (nothing booked yet but got a good few ideas already). We think we've picked our venue but going back for a second look in a couple of weeks - how did you all pick your venues??

How soon is it to be looking for wedding dresses? I'm itching to go and try some on!

xx

Hello! Welcome and Congratulations!

Thats fantastic that you have a venue in mind already. Where is it? Once you visit a few you'll soon know which is your favourite so just go with you gut instinct.

As for wedding dresses go try some on. It really is fun, especially when you're not in any rush to make a decision.

We have been to 5 or 6 venues and the one we are thinking of we both got a really strong gut feeling that it was "the one". It's such a beautiful location in the Lakes it just took our breath away. All the places we looked at were lovely but this one really had the right feeling about it. It's called the Inn on the Lake www.lakedistricthotels.net/innonthelake

Sounds like gut instinct is the way to go!

Congratuations on your engagement! I'd definitely agree - you know in your gut when you've found your venue. As far as making the decision goes I went with how I felt. Some venues made me feel nauseous at the size of them but I feel really calm and settled and happy and excited all at the same time in our venue. If your doing it sensibly then you might want to take into account your budget, how many guests you want to invite vs venue capacity, catering packages, dates etc.

As for your dress - there's no harm in booking appointments and having a look. It's worth getting an idea of how soon you need to order depending on the designer. Just don't rush into anything your not 100% sure of - take your time and enjoy it!

Hey,

I am also new to all this and got enaged in November! We are hoping for a November 2012 wedding in the Lakes. We are going up in a couple of weeks to view and hopefully book a venue so I am very excitied. The inn on the lake is gorgeous I would loved to pick that but I have an enormous family so need somewhere bigger...

Have you started looking for or got any recomendations for any suppliers for all the other things?

Congratulations to you too sp2b! Yay engagement month buddies.

Have you got any venues in mind in the lakes? There are so many and a lot that are very beautiful! What kind of numbers are you looking at?

As far as suppliers etc go, I've not done much searching yet to be honest. I figured I'll get the venue booked first then look a bit more after that. Had a look at some photographers and there seems to be so many that look good - I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment!!
