Bridesmaid dress annoyance! what should I do???

Hi Girls
I'm bm for my best mate. The bride has handed over all organising to the other BM. Anyway, I make BM dresses for a living - and without blowing my own trumpet - they're awesome. Slick designs, any colour, I can make anything basically (not a plug for my business - as I havent left contact details!). Anyway, we meet up last week and I'm shown the BM dress of choice.. BHS (I know they do some okay stuff, but this design is blo*dy awful). I am 4 different sizes from my top to bottom according to the BHS size chart - so its very difficult to have this taken in. Should I be offended that my business is not being used? This is like having a company that sells Mercedes at cost price and going to a Ford garage for more money! We are paying for our own dresses - should we have more of a say?

Don't be silly, blow your own trumpet!!!! If they are good, maybe show some designs to bride2b and see what she thinks. I'm a true believer in that if the bridesmaids aren't happy in what they are wearing it will show!!!!
If you are paying for your dresses i would definitely say you should have some input.
Just approach the subject in the right way.

I agree, if you're paying you should definitely have a say.

But, she may think you don't want to make the BM dresses, even if it's what you do for a living. A lot of people won't use friends, especially close friends, for anything for the wedding (apart from a hand in DIY, maybe) as it would be so much worse if they don't like it, or they feel like it's added pressure on you as a friend who has to make the dresses for a good friend's big day.

it doesnt make a huge amount of sense to me that your best friend (so i assume she knows your buisness?),the bride, has given over the job of picking your dresses to the other bridesmaid anyway! does the other bm know what you do? does the bride maybe think that your busy enough and didnt want to burden you with the project? i'd have a friendly word over a coffee with her and ask if she'd mind you making the dresses instead due to the sizing prob and that as your paying for them anyway it would make it a bit more affordable for you both.
i hope you manage to sort the prob ... and if you do make them show us some pics!!

If I had a friend who could make them in the exact style and colour I wanted, I'd snap their hand off! I'd just offer your services to her and see what she says.

Have you offered to do them? She might nt want to ask incase you are willing? X

Thanks so much all. Other BM wants control so didnt want to get me involved as such.... so talked to bride and she was worried that she was taking the p*ss! You were all right! Thanks ladies. I now don't have to wear the worst dress I have literally ever seen in my life! BTW (again, with no details of my business) if anyone needs advice on what suits which body shape, best colour combo's, best styles, etc (in terms of bridesmaids) happy to give advice. Can also advise on how to measure etc. Thanks again

My bridesmaids are paying for their dresses and other than colour I've left the rest to them. I definitely think you should have a say.

I'd suggest you doing them, or having more imputed at least and just see what she says
