Subject: Stag Do Help!!!
Please help.. My best man and I have arrange a stag for this weekend... taken a long time to organise as hard to get a collection of old friends together... things cancelled closed... long story.

Anyway there is a group of 6 of us all knowing each other for about 20+years going and everything is sorted but 3 of the group have a massive thing about trying to embarrass the stag by getting me to dress up. I know it seems to be the thing now a days but I get embarrassed very easily and I am not comfortable with it at all.

I like a laugh and I am up for most things apart from dressing up and strippers which unfortunately are the two 'stag must do' items that I have said I really don't want to do.

My best man is on side with me saying it is my weekend so not to do anything that will make me feel uncomfortable it is just 3 of them who feel that if I don't dress up then I am being a spoil sport and not playing along... making me feel guilty as they have started to mention that they are paying for the weekend also so expect me to take part.

Thing is the weekend was themed already as we were doing a rat-pack theme of casinos and dog tracks etc and suppose a bit of dress of wearing suits to the casino... I don't see how this will fit in and some of the places booked won't allow me to be wearing anything stupid.

How do I get out of this without causing hassle before we even leave and get folks back up? Already sounding like a mountain out of a mole hill.

Personally if i were you, I'd get a single piece of fancy dress which can be easily taken off and unobtrustive, e.g. stag "antlers" and wear those, and when they try to dress you up, insist that you just want your antlers. I think it would be seen as a "compromise" and more likely not to cause offense. You could then ditch the antlers later, give them to some girl or "lose" them accidentally in a pub/bar.

It's your stag do. Whilst everyone wants a good time, there is nothing that says the stag has to be humiliated in public. Well, not to the extent you are suggesting anyway. I don't want lap dancing/strippers and all of the other stuff that stags are supposed to want. My perfect stag do would be just getting p***ed with my mates in some quality places and having a brilliant laugh. If the local pub had a casino, some go-karts and a pitch-and-putt course, it would be brilliant.

Your best man should be the one with the final word over the dissenters. If he is backing you up, and is prepared to tell the others it's just not on, then you should be fine.

It's just when there is a sealed envelope on every table at the reception that you have a problem!
