What happens if you are going on honeymoon the day after your wedding coz surely your name on your passport cant be changed till you show marriage certificate?
Mine needs renewed anyway this year...

You can travel on your maiden name for a year I think it is. DOes your passport need renewing before you go on honeymoon? If it needs renewing afterwards then just travel on your maiden name, and renew after you are married.

If it needs renewing before, I believe you can submit an application under what will be your married name a certain amount of time ahead of your wedding.

There's a form you can get and your registrar signs it and you send it off with your old passport then they send you a new one that's valid from your wedding day. Remember if you book your tickets the name needs to match that on the passport

I phoned the passport office as my passport doesn't need to be renewed until 2017 they have said that I can still travel under my maiden name til then just can't use it as a valid form of ID. Travel documents need to match the name in the passport. I also found out that you can apply for a postdated passport before my marriage but can only carry 9 months of current passport over to the new one. Check out direct.gov.uk and find the link to passports to be sure, they are really helpful on the telephone as well! hope you find the information you need and all the best with your planning.

Just travel in your maiden name and change it when you need to renew your passport, much easier

Whatever you do just make sure that your tickets are booked in the name on your passport at the time of travel.

Airlines will not accept tickets in another name other than that on the passport no matter what documentation you take with you.

I work for an airline and even a slight spelling discrepancy can cause havoc.

I'm gutted as my passport runs out the month before we get married but as i'm a flight attendant I can't hold off renewing it so will have to do it twice within the same year as I really don't want my maiden name on my passport for the next 10 years! Boo

I am renewing my passport before we get married and changing to my married name!it will need renewing anyway as I don't have enough months left on the passport to travel by the time we get married so when I asked the advice of the passport office they said that it was up to me but I wouldnt b able to transfer anything over 9months onto a new passport so it was an easy decision!as others have said, just made sure ur names on the tickets and passports are the same and you'll b fine!

If you need to renew your passport anyway I would look up doing it in advance in your new name - saves a bit of money having to get another one afterwards.. I

'm going through with my maiden name and will change it later.. but whatever you do just make sure you book it in the same name, so if you have already booked in your maiden name just re-new it in that. x

Mine runs out in March and we travel to Mexico in September. Ive booked it in my maiden name and will keep my passport in my maiden name for now. I will eventually change it but no rush. I have to renew it straight away as where I work we need valid passport as part of our ID pass regulations.
