Subject: Inviting pupils to church ceremony...
Hi everyone!

I'm getting married at the end of March and tend to get carried away with ideas for the wedding so thought I'd run this one by you all as my fiance is on the fence about it!

I am a primary teacher and my job is literally my life- I LOVE those kids! Anyway, after chatting to one of the parents whose daughter had been going on about how excited she is that I'm getting married, I started thinking about whether it would be possible to invite the children to our wedding. Did a bit of googling and found a newspaper article about a school teacher in Bournmouth who invited her class- photos were so cute and all of the responses seemed positive.

I would love to do this as teaching is such a massive part of my life and the children would be so excited! I would only invite my last couple of classes and only to the ceremony.
Fiance's only concern is that too many people might come, but our church is big so wouldn't be a problem.

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on this- can you think of any potential issues that I might not have considered? has anyone heard of this happening before??

Thanks ladies!

I'm a Year 1 teacher. This year I would quite happily have my class at the ceremony but we're getting married away from home. Last year there would have been no chance of me even thinking about it!

Although I might think about it, my H2B would hate the idea. I think he would find it odd having so many people that he doesnt know at our wedding.
If you are set on it and H2B is ok with it I would have a chat with your HT as they might see issues that I dont. Also would you be inviting parents with the children or are you going to have just a couple of people supervising them? I could imagine that you would end up with a huge number if people decide to make it into a family outing.

I would probably invite parents too, otherwise would turn into a school trip and need risk assessments/ ratios/ getting them back afterwards which I wouldn't want to have to ask my colleague/friends to manage! Also you may be right about the family outing thing- I've taught at the school for the last 6 years so it could end up as a bit of a free for all!

Hmmmm think this might be another one of my 'great ideas' that is too hard to organise...

I think this is a lovely idea, and as it's a church it'll be easier for them to come without you needing to think about extra chairs etc. Can you send a letter out to parents, maybe with the details and saying you'd love them to be there, then it's up to the parents to arrange it.

It's a lovely idea depending on where you are! I wouldn't consider inviting my munchkins, much as I love them I couldn't have them there.

I also think its nice to separate that part of life away from home but that's due to my school and the area.
Speak to the head before saying anything too, no doubt there will be some CP issues xxx

It's a nice idea but there's no way in hell I'd invite my classes, saying that I'm a secondary school teacher so it's a bit different lol x

i think its really sweet just remember that with a child comes a parent, not sure you could invite one without the other. keep talking to your man about it and if you want to go for it and hes ok then do. think of all the lovely pics they can draw you when youre all back in the classroom
