Subject: Charity pins
Good morning ladies

A little thing i have been struggling with.

I lost my mum to cancer in march last year, and macmillan cancer helped her so much during her illness.

We already have favours but i always wanted to get the pins for all our guest also.

I am going to attach them to a little card and put it inside the order of service, but im not sure what to write. I dont want to upset anyone but i want the guests who didnt know her (IE some of h2bs family) to know that it is in remembrance to her, as i dont want the day to pass ignoring her absence all together.

Is it rude or cheeky to write the following:

"A donation has been made to Macmillan Cancer support in your honour in remebrance to castlebrides's mum, *Mums name*.
Please wear your pin and show your support. Thank you x"

Does that sound ok? If not i would be grateful for suggestions
Thanks x

That sounds lovely.

I am doing a similar thing in memory of my dad and have been wondering how to put it.

Firstly I'm sorry for your loss.
What you have said sounds lovely to me, it would be a really good way to support a great charity and to remember your mum on your wedding day.
I hope all goes well x

Lovely idea, a friend of mine did cancer charity pins at her wedding last year and in all honestly they are the only favours I've ever rememebered anyone doing

Thanks ladies

I just wasnt sure if the wording sounded ok, thought maybe mentioning her name sounded a bit too much for people.
And...didnt know if the whole "please wear your pin" bit sounded a bit rude.

Thanks again x

That sounds just right to me - I'm giving out charity favours at my wedding too, from the British Heart Foundation, in memory of my grandparents.

We also did British heart foundation pins, husbands dad died from his 4th heart attack and we also lost our grandparents to it. Our cards said

'A cause close to our hearts...'
* the pin attached here *
'A donation has been made on your behalf to the British Heart Foundation
Please show your support by wearing this pin'

Every single pin was taken and everyone had them on. If you'd like to remember your mum else where on your day our minister said something along the lines of 'on this special day we remember husbands dad, XXX and indeed other absent friends'

It was subtle enough not to bring the mood down but more than enough for us to feel he'd not been forgotten x

I do worry that people who didn't want to wear the pin there and then for any reason would feel pressured to. Maybe say 'feel free to wear the pin to show your support' or 'if you wish' or put something in about taking it home. I wouldn't worry too much though if you stick with your wording.

I do feel that mentioning your mum's name is more than fine as you would want to include her in your day.

I think i may ask our celebrant to include that also, thank you marriednow123

Jane k thats exactly what i was thinking about...i think "feel free to wear" might work better.

Thank you x
