December/Christmas honeymoon ideas and cost

I'm hoping to get some ideas from brides who have either been on honeymoon over Christmas or who has booked to go. We're getting married in Crete next year and will be away for 2 or 3 weeks, but we'd like to go for a honeymoon also when we're off work over Christmas (2013)
Ideally we want to go somewhere exotic and luxurious and for 10-14 days. It seems prices at this time in the a lot of locations (Caribbean,Maldives,Bali) are over 5k in total. Of course I've only been able to go on prices for this year but I assume they will be similar

hi i have just booked thailand in january. we have three nights in bangkok, five nights in kananburi and then seven nights in a private pool villa in hua hin. This cost us £3400 with virgin holidays, a lot cheaper than initial quotes

That is great value. Did you book everything with Virgin or do your own research and book everything?

We went to Antigua in December, and it was perfect! Prob about 28degrees, and sunshine all week! Also we got it in the virgin sale, but for a 5* place for 10 days it was about £1800 each all inclusive

i booked the flights, private transfers and accomadation in bangkok and hua hin with virgin. The bit in the middle i am doing myself but the accomadation can be sooo cheap there that i am not too worried
I had a few holidays in thailand priced up and they were really expensive, what i have realised is that if you dont travel too far south or go to one of the islands it can really cut the cost down as your not needing internal flights. Also found the resorts that are more famous like phuket , krab koi samiu it was a lot more expensive for the luxury rooms i guess its because there is more demand from tourists. My understanding is that hua hin is used more by locals as a resort and you can still do excursions to places like dolphon beach and monkey island.
We are staying at the Evason which is just outside hua hin. I was desperate to have a private pool villa and was more interested in having that luxury and privacy than being on an island. I am also looking forward to getting tovisit some of the local beach bars and the local fishing village rather than a huge built up area.
i know how difficult it can be as we nearlly didnt book as it just seemed like the prices would be soop expensive.

We went to Cuba for honeymoon in December but we came home on Christmas Eve as it was half the price to go then than stay a few days later over Christmas and new year. Cuba was great at that time of year

I am getting married in December this year and I have been looking at honeymoons in Lucia, Jamacia early January total cost for 14 nights all inclusive at a 5* resort through First Choice is £2,600 for both of us which I think is great. We were originally looking at Mexico but although the tempratures are great that time of year we have been keeping our eye on weather report and they seem to have been having heavy rain and lightning most days.
