Subject: Disaster :-(
Gosh having the worst time planning our wedding !! Still excited but been feeling very down latLey. First of all I'm allergic to my engagment ring (and wedding ring) so have had payout extra to upgrade to a diff metal !

So I found the perfect dress I wasn't keen on the shop seller so tried to find the dress elsewhere  but failed. I paid the deposit on the dress, I then received a txt a week later asking for the rest of the money!! I thought it was od but paid it as there was alot of work that needed doing. The dress didn't fit so he was remaking th back into a corset. Anyway he asked me to take my shoes to sort the length which I did. I commented at the time if the length was to short as he was cutting. He was confident and told me no.

I collected the dress in nov 2011 as he txt me asking me to, again I thought it was strange n asked if I was still able to bring the dress for fitting he reassured me I could. I collected the dress, he showed me damp in the shop n he was having building work done to fix this and he was going back to Spain for Christmas. I got the dress home n the length hadn't been touched !! I txt n he replied saying leave the dress as it is I will sort it all nearer the time. He had told me to contact him to arrange a fitting mid feb 2012.
All was well untill my sister kicked up a fuss about her new boyfriend coming to the wedding which we had to say no as we had to other family, so she decided if he can't come neither can she. Arrgh !!!

So then fri 13th of all days my other sister called me asking if the dress shop is still open, then proceeded to tell me the shop was empty and had a council notice for change to become a takeaway !!! Yes I no how bad !! I called his mobile, no was not recognised! n his website was also gone. I was so upset Ifelt sick. I started to feel better knowing I had my dress as some people didn't. That was untill I took it to 2 other bridal shops who cudnt beleive the state of the dress ! He had cut it to short and completely unlevel !! The dress is now in another shop the to see how bad it will look when hemmed, its guna be about 2-3 inch from the floor. I am devastated and have no budget for a new dress its now a waiting game. I'm not confident it will look rite as it won't skim the floor but will have to hope that it will look like its ment to show my shoes /-( not convinced myself !! Oh n I forgot our wedding is April 21st 2012

How frustrating for you. The biggest up side here is that you actually have your dress so it's not a complete loss. On the practical front, do you have insurance that might do something? Another thing that might help is if you were wearing heels and it doesn't look right with a gap from hem to floor, switch to flats. This could sort out a gap of several inches.

oh hun, i completely feel for you and am now starting to think that we went to the same dress shop. WAs this person in blackpool the only reason i ask is that i bought my dress and he promised he would store it and then refused to and just shipped it in the post to my house when i couldnt get tot he store to pick it up. i also think that he has taken my dress up to far. I take it they cant lower it. Mine isnt quite that short put its not skimming the floor like i wanted. I am going to see if a dress maker can lower it if not i have bought the sparkliest pair of shoes i could find and i am goint to pretend it was all dceliberate. I think confidence helps you get away with a lot. My heart goes out to you though because its not a nice feeling.
In relation to your sister cant believe she isnt going to come maybe once she calms down she will think again.
Whats the reason he cant come is it budget restricted numbers etc. Does she know the reason why he cant come,

your sister will come round, you never know they might not be together by then if its a new relationship

Hugs. I agree with trying flats with your dress, It may help. I think it's good that you're looking at the positives (that you have your dress) and just remember at the end of it, you'll get to marry your lovely h2b.

Yes the shop was in Blackpool I had nothing but trouble from the start !
She has offered to pay for him so it's not really a cost issue but if I said yes to her then wud have to say yes to 5-6 others in tge family who have new partners. If he had been with her longer then of course he wud have been invited but she wasn't with him wen the wedding was planned, I think she has been with him about 2months if that, I also wudnt 1 sum guy on family pics that she may not be with in a couple of months. I said if there's space he can come to the eve but the room doesn't hold to many. She knows the reason n messages my whole family telling them her reason for no longer coming n said alot of spiteful things about me to my other sister over fb. She has referred several times to me being involved in her wedding as she asked me to be maid of honour (but I fell pregnant)and signing her book.
I haven't asked her as I cudnt afford more then 1 bridesmaid but did ask her to come and see the dresses I liked. I'm not really sure wat else I cud of done to make her feel more involved. Just feel really down about tge whole thing n it should be exciting xx
She also has picked at everything n keeps questioning everything like y I havbt done my table plan, wat meal to pick n y is its not all planned yet

Yeh I felt relief in that fact untill I went to 2 other shops who cudnt beleive how hacked the hem is. My shoes are 3.5 inches but it didn't make much diff without them but i was pointed out that heels raise u at tge back the front is only 1inch if that xx we stupidly didn't take insurance but even if we did I can't find both the receipts do wudnt of got wat I paid

I'm sorry you're havvign such a nightmare planning your wedding. I'm not sure what to say about you sister's behaviour, but I did have a few ideas about you dress.

A high heel does elevate you foot at the back, but also alters the angle of your instep to increase your height evenly (if it only raised you at the back and not the front too, you would be leaning at a very strange angle) so swapping to flats would make a difference.

You don't say what style your dress is, but if it has a hoop or net skirts, reducing the size of these would drop the hem of the skirt a few inches.

Adding a faced or bound hem instead of the ordinary kind would reduce the amount of length the dressmaker needed to take up.

You dress could be altered to a tea length or mid calf length if the style suited it.

If you have a parachute (tucked) style skirt, letting the tucks down would increase the length too.

I'm not sure if any of this will help, but hope your new dress maker can sort it out for you

edited for atrocious typos!
