Subject: An Alternative to Boudoir Shoots
I posted this in 'for the groom' but thought it might serve its purpose better here

Hi All,

Just a thought for some of you ladies that might be thinking about Boudoir shoots....

This was something I thought about quite a lot, and liked the idea of doing for hubby. FYEO is literally just down the road from me and everything else was a lot further afield, but looking at the prices, both for the shoot and particularly for extra pics, I decided I just couldn't justify it.

When I met our tog a few days before the wedding, he said not to forget my nice undies etc. This wasn't something that had even occurred to me as my dress was fully corseted I didn't need anything other than knickers (which were actually my something blue!). I had a sexy corset and thong that I'd bought for honeymoon so I brought those along for the day.

Hey presto, my own private Boudoir shoot with no extra costs for hair and make up or the shoot itself. Obviously the down side was that I didn't have something to give to hubby on the day and I only had one 'outfit'. But he did lots of different shots and we get the digital files and to print them as we choose, which hubby is very chuffed with!

hmm, i'm not too sure about this, a few things bother me about what you've said and i've mulled it over a bit. Firstly, and I dont know your photographer at all - he may be a lovely lovely chap but HE suggested you strip down to your undies? On your wedding day? You didnt ask him for these shots and actually you seem really pleased with them so obv everything went ok, but it makes me feel a bit uneasy! So, he's a wedding photographer AND gets to see brides in their knickers too? Sounds like a cushy job for him! I know there are male boudoir photographers too, who are very very good at what they do but their clients chose them because they ARE a boudoir photographer and presumably know what they're doing (seen it all before etc etc). I know for sure if i'd done this on my wedding day my husband would have freaked out - some man saw me in my wedding lingerie (or less) on the morning of my wedding day when he'd not even seen me!

I also like the last bit - 'he did loads of different shots' - I bloomin bet he did!!!!!!

I really don't mean to put a downer on your photos - you and your hub love them so all's good - just do'nt think it would be for me!

Good for you dudders & lovely that Mr Dudders was pleased.
Also other ladies that don't think it sounds like something they would like then just simply say that - do not rip it to pieces & try to make it appear seedy! I'm pretty sure what dudders has described was the overall experience in a nutshell & if it came across as inappropriiate then she obviously wouldn't have done it! Really nice way to put a downer on someones wedding day.

Anyway rant over! I'm off to read your wedding report

Is this the same guy that was ordering everyone around and was really rude to all your guests and left a bad taste in your mouth?

Yes Alex, I just stripped to my undies for any old perv!

As Mrs July rightly says I have summarised a lot. Funnily enough we also didn't pick our wedding photographer from a pack of passing strangers, but carefully selected him based on his ability and how we as a couple got on with him.

If it had come across as remotely inappropriate that my registered PROFESSIONAL photographer (yes not just wedding photographer - people can capably shoot more than one genre) wanted to give us as full an experience as possible then I would have told him so.

These were tasteful appropriate shots - I've worn less to go swimming! It's not like he asked me to pose butt naked

For those that want to do a boudoir shoot but either can't justify it or afford it, I just wanted to let you know there is another option. I think it speaks for itself that if you didn't feel comfortable with your tog, then you wouldn't, and shouldn't consider asking them.

One and the same Becca. I'm not advocating him as a tog, just the option of an alternative to the boudoir shoot.

He'd been a different man before the day itself in terms of personality. Sadly he was an absolute ar2ehole but his pictures were just as good, if not better than we expected from the work we'd seen. Good job too, or I might have had to go and hurt him
