Subject: Mori Lee 852 Bridesmaid Dress Fitting Nightmare!!! Help?
Hi All,
The above dress is fitted at the bust and then flows from underneath. Therefore does anyone know whether I should just take bust measurements or everything. The problem is if I include waist and hips then the BM's will end up in dresses 4 times too big = Huge alterations!!

I had a similar issue - we were told by the Dessy stockist shop we had to go for the largest measurement, which was usually boobs or hips (although we took off an inch here or there for anticipated weightloss). Yes, there might be alteration costs but at least you'll know they can be worn, where as its impossible to alter the dress to fit anything more than an inch bigger usually!
Bridesmaid dresses are definately one of the bigger stresses for me!

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for the reply. Yes I can't believe how stressful the BM dresses are turning out to be. I wanted to order them from the US as they are tons cheaper but starting to think is it worth it!

Dresses can be a strange fit and far better to be measured by a professional. As for buying from US being 'tons cheaper' have you allowed for shipping/customs/VAT as after all that they won't work out massively cheaper - certainly not for the stress involved?!!!

Have you included customs and import charges of 32% which is charged on the dress and postage cost? And I had heard that US companies could no longer ship to the UK for various designers?
Having said that an assuning you checked that out then you do usually have to order the largest size and have them taken in. I think you could probably allow some leeway on the waist if a size fits the bust and hips, but be careful as the lining layer may still be tight despite the flow of the top layer. Won't the people you are buying from help?

Yep, I have friends in the US so will get the dresses delivered to them for free and then they will bring them back. I considered getting them here but it is just too cheap not to. It really doesn't make much sense with the sizing and it's quite interesting as different stockists say different things! The dresses were tried on here so think we are going to go with the US equivalent to be safe.
Thanks all!
