Subject: advice needed. How long did it take to conceive after having implant ?
Hello

new to this side of the forum. just had my implant removed after almost 4 years. my little one turns four on sunday and we want to try for another one this year. I have read some horror stories about the implant so wondered if anyone on here has had any problems or has conceived as normal xx

I came off the implant in July 2008, and TTC for 14 months between Jan 2009 and March 2010 with no luck. I went back on the pill for a year while planning our wedding. We started TTC again in March last year, and are just in the process now of beginning fertility tests etc. So unfortunatley no good luck here lol!

Hi,

I was really quick to conceive after having the implant taken out. No-one tells you that your fertility peaks slightly after having it removed. I had my implant (which I had had in for 5 years 3yrs then 2yrs) out on the 1st July, I had my first 'period' from the 20th July to the 25th July started 'not trying-not preventing' with hubby and I got a positive result on a digital pregancy test on the 19th Aug. I'm now 29 weeks pregnant with my little girl due 27th April!

It does vary a lot from person to person. I thought I would take FOREVER to get pregnant as I am slightly overweight but nope.
All's I can say to you is it will happen when it happens. You can't really go by other people's experiences.

Good Luck!

I had my implant removed on 10th jan this year and af came the next day for 5 days(hoping is a normal period) and we were 'not trying-not preventing' for the first week after but since 2 weeks ago we've been properly trying, taking folic acid and changing our diet/lifestyle accordingly but I've had two bfn so far, but I know it's early days yet. Sorry I can't of more use, it differs for everyone, good luck

I had my implant removed on the 5th of January. It was in for about 6 months and didn't have any visits from AF the whole time, and she hasn't visited since either. Optimistically I started to get excited after a couple weeks because I was having weird nausea and cramps but 2 bfn's later I've no idea what my body's doing

Hormonal contraceptives mess up your body's natural everything so much! Almost wish I never had one now

Me to!!! I feel a bit stupid for not doing more research and just taking the advice of the contraceptive nurse without questioning it a bit more. Fingers crossed it'll all be ok tho

I had my implant in for nearly 4 years and i started my periods later than most girls as it was so I've only ever had about a year of natural periods before my implant originally went in, so I have NO IDEA what is natural for me!! I just hope I either have ovulated this cycle or if not itll hurry up so I can get on with ttc with a proper cycle!

thanks for the replies, i too wish i had looked into things more but had this implant pushed at me once i gave birth saying it was amazing so thought why not. but hearing more and more that people struggle with it, i got terrible mood swings and at one point after having it changed (after 3 years) the new implant made me almost want to walk infront of a bus so i have to say i am glad its now out. just hope we get lucky xx

Just wanted to give a bit of a positive spin to this

I had an implant for3 years, then because I knew we wanted to ttc sooner rather than later, I went on the pill for a year while we planned the wedding etc.
Came off the pill & started 'not preventing' in may & conceived our baby in August.
I feel quite lucky that things returned to normal quickly. My cycles were quite short & fairly regular in the 3/4 months we were trying.

Good luck & try not to worry til you have to
