Hi everyone. We've just fixed our venue at New Hall in Sutton near Birmingham. I am so excited that we finally found the perfect place.

We're getting married on 5 December 2009 - just wondered if anyone else is getting married there and maybe we could share ideas?

Hi both - I'm getting married there in June 2009.
A few worries too with the wedding co-ordinator but I think it's just that it's a bit too far away to have too much contact, especially with the changes going on with the marquee / music etc.
Really excited about the venue - nothing else in the midlands area really compares to it. great photo opps even if it rains (we're getting married glastonbury weekend so it's quite likely to rain!

Hi Kaylabear

We have paid roughly £3500 for the civil ceromany and the hire of the marquet, then about £40 per head x

Hi girls im having our wedding reception in Sutton Coldfield, i just wante to give you details of a company i have found to be amazing they are called seats and treats. They are doing my seat covers i cant stop raving about them lol www.seatsandtreats.com
They came to my house to show me samples to make sure i was happy with the colour of sashes etc. They also offered me a 25 % discount and a low deposit so it worth getting in touch. info@seatsandtreats.com

Hi - any feedback from New Hall brides?

I have this as one of my chosen 3 venues, we have another one provisionally booked, but i do love new hall - and so depending on numbers, we may change.

The wedding planner is a bit of a sticking point, so I was just wondering how it all went?

Any advice would be much appreciated xxx

Hi ya, update for you, up to now elizabeth hasbeen rubiish, even when my dad read through the contract that you have to sign, he sent her loads of queries and she took 2 weeks to come back to him and hardly answered any of them, we havent actually met her yet (wedding has been booked since aug last year!) however... i emailed her on sunday evening this week to answer 8 questions about what we are/arent allowed to do, and fair play to her, she emailed me back on monday with answers to all. she didnt fill me with great confidence when we first started dealing with her, but she has had a quick response to my last questions which i am happy with. she is also setting up a practice table for me so i can see what it looks like, and is trying her best to help me, so things are looking up!! plus the new marquee has now been built so going on sat to have a look, so excited!x

Thanks for the advice girls, I emailed her this week with some questions (as we are till umming and arring), she didn't reply so I sent it to the main email address marked for her attention and she then answered.
I just think her attitude is slightly harsh and it has put me off - which is a great shame as I love the venue.

I had a look at the new marquee a few weeks ago and it is lovely!

Keep us posted please!!!

xx

Hello all
We went to new hall to start discussing things this weekend. I must admit, I feel a lot better about things now! everything seems really organised now - Elizabeth took time to explain everything we had questions about and some that we didn't! Menu options are better laid out in a brochure, with options for tastings (pre hand picked hotels it wasn't really an option!) and the whole place is getting an overhaul - great chamber refurbed and repainted, marquee finished, and bedrooms refitted.
Back to being excited again now!!
Hope this helps

Thanks Mrs Hill 2b.

I am really stuck now, unsure what to do as I do love our 2 (or 3) top venues...

Can I ask - have you seen Moxhull Hall?

I did - that was our second choice, lovely but a totally different feel.
We did a lot of umming and ahhing when we heard we couldn't have live music in the marquee at New Hall. Moxhull, depending on numbers you can have wedding breakfast in the house and then reception in the marquee.
We thought about what was more important to us, and something that cam quite high in our list was the setting and the photos. For that, nothing comes close to New Hall, Also, more rooms for people to stay. The set up of things was also a consideration for us - both places have weddings most days. We want fairy lights and balloons etc settingup in the marquee, and whilst New Hall said hey would do everything for us, Moxhull were a bit more reserved in what they could / would do (less staff as a lot smaller venue I guess) so that we would have to do these ourselves. I didn't really fancy stringing lights to the marquee on the morning!!!
Hope this helps. Where's your third option?
