I'll be the first to admit that by the end of our big day my Amanda Wyatt satin and chiffon number with delicate beading was a bit of a state. Muddy hems, smudge on the bodice - possibly chocolate. Heck! What's a girl to do before she stores her wedding dress - full of happy memories.
Having had a bad experience with Johnsons in the past and their too good to be true prices, I avoided them and the other high st cleaners.
I contacted Amanda Wyatt and she told me about Terrington Burchett. She and other designers always use them - and their Baptiste process. No clue what it does - but it works a dream!
Simple process - print off form from website and complete - put in box with dress and your cheque. Seal it - call to have it collected. It's collected and 3-4 weeks later it's returned to you.
The results are fab, the box it comes in.... well I was in tears ... and it felt like my wedding day and Christmas wrapped into one. A large Ivory acid free box, with a big sage ribbon bow (as I requested) and when opened revealed my dress so clean and vibrant like new, and packed with love and attention to detail. I am never going to take it outagain- it looks so "peaceful and elegant".
They clean fabric footwear too. My ivory satin Choos were packed separately and are clean again to be used on special occasions.
As well as the process being simple and the results being fab, the communication from the Terrington Burchett Team was impeccable. They called to check the day it was to be collected. They called to say when it arrived (so had piece of mind), they called last week to say there was a small stain still on the bodice and they wanted to have another go at it (which worked), and they called to say when It would be delivered...and it was spot on!
I really cannot fault them. Yes the prices are high - but for results like this and a service and company which clearly cares and has a strong reputation in the wedding dress world it's all worth it.
I now have this gorgeous big box with my even more gorgeous dress in it - and it seems a real shame to put it in the loft now! Sob!
I have been thinking about using this company to clean my dress. Did you pick the hand made box or the box with the perspex window? I couldn't decide which to go for, as i had quite a large wedding dress. Do you have to pay to post your dress to them? Can i ask how much you paid in total?
Hi Karlie - I chose hand made box. Perspex - not sure on the point of that as it would be in the loft anyway - out of eyeline.... and worried it would tear, crack and go yellow with age.
Here is the dress so you can see size: as not part' HUGE!
Oh I am really pleased to hera this.
My wedding dress shop recommended them and I am sitting here waiting for the courier to come and pick up my dress.
I got quotes from shops for up to £120 and they are doing it for £107, including my shoes and delivery/pick up.
I already have a box, that my sister bought me so it will go in there when it comes back.
btw, Charley. The instructions that came with my box says not to store your dress in the loft as it is too cold. It says under a bed or at the back of a wardrobe and to take it out of the box once a year, to change the folding of it so that the creases don't settle forever.
Hi Charlie Angel. Thanks for that- must have missed that bit. Only instructions I got was remove the plastic outer on the box as that would effect the box.
Hmmmm I'll check with TB. Our loft is pretty toasty as insulated. Otherwise will have to store under my childhood bed at my perents - mum will love that!

i would like to say i used this company too... to clean my sample pre wedding... and there is not a mark on the dress anywhere its fab looks like its never been tried on or anything....
they are honestly the best thing ever and now i have a nice box to transport it too without damage and with the acid free paper....
although it is in the stupid dress shop right now.....(see other post)
I used them too - were fab! Agree with all the praise charleygirl gives them. Just a warning - the extra large box is huge (but completely the right size for my dress). I had a pretty big dress and my brain clearly hadn't computed it would require a big box and it wasn't going to magically fit into a shoe box! Might be relevant for anyone having it delivered back to work, as I did, you won't get it home on the train! xxx
