Mandaps/Hall/Photographer/Clothes/ Invitations HELP!!

I'm new to this site and have just joined. I'm having a hindu wedding in May and got A LOT of prep to do. I need all the help i can get. I don;t want to spend £££££ on stuff so i'm looking for advice on cheap companies i can use for:

-Engagement Stage Decor
-Wedding Mandap
-Photographer
-Invitations
-Bridal Wear

I will be doing a lot of my shopping in India early next year!

Mandaps are SO expensive as are engagement stage decor!

For our engagement stage we went with Roshan Mandaps who did us a lovely background for a very good price (go round to choose the background piece) They don't have a website and I'm finding people tend to be cheaper if they don't have expenses of websites and marketing etc!

I got my wedding invites from the internet and they were great - even an event/wedding coordinator was impressed by them. You can buy them online and get them delivered here, or you might want to save the delivery charge and order online, but say you will pick them up in Mumbai or give a delivery address in India - www.parekhcards.com.

My wedding outfit was bought from Green St. I wasn't expecting to find it there, in fact I had reservations going to Green St in the first place.

In terms of mandaps etc - that was all with the hall I had chosen. With mandaps depending on what you want prices normally start from £1100 onwards.

I found out via my priest and also posts on this forum that mandaps are not necessary for weddings - they are just for show. What is necessary for a Hindu wedding is simply four of the old-fashioned clay/metal water jars placed at each of the four corners of a square, and you get married in that.

I'm having about 5 of those piled up on top of each other so they start off big at the bottom and become smaller as they get piled on top of each other. You can get them beautifully decorated or plain.

Thanks for the reply back. No date has been officially set yet but it's most prob in May 2010. Location- my sister got married in Kingsbury High School, it's a large hall.

Mandaps- i really don't want to spend over £1000 but want something creative, for example draped mandaps.

Does anyone know about stage decor that i can use for our official gujrati engagement ceremony?

Invites- i'm not mega worried as i'm going to India so will get them from there. But thanks for the website, i'll take a look on that.

Any other info anyone can pass on would be great.

If anyone needs hair/makeup person in Middx them please ask, i have someone VERY good who is modern and has not only just asian weddings but different races as well. She is very simple and elegant and there is no look of typical red lipstick look.

Ashy if you type Roshan Mandaps into Google you will get his contact details on the first link. He is based in Kenton so not bad for you. They did a very good job at our engagement and charged a decent price (fiance arranged so not sure exact although was cheaper than anywhere else).
