Subject: Scottish brides HELP! Pacific band or Riffreshers band?
Hi there,
I'm getting married in July 2010 and I'm looking for a band just now. I emailed Riffreshers about going to see them and think they are doing Scottish Wedding Fair in February. I'm rethinking them though as there are 7 of them and my venue has small stage area so might be too busy with a 7 piece? they do look fab though.

Hello ladies,
The only help I can offer is the fact that I have heard a fair bit about Riffreshers on this site, but have never heard of Pacific band (that by no way means they are bad though!).
I suggest you keep bumping up your post for other Scottish brides to see. There are definitely brides on here who have booked Riffreshers.
I personally have booked 'Splash' through the Elite Promotions Agency.

No problem, sorry I couldn't be of more help. Elite promotions is an Aberdeen agency, but Splash is from Glasgow so it's not exclusively local.
Where abouts are you?
You can hear audio clips of the bands on the Elite website, some even have videos which is great. I went to see Splash at an Elite exhibition, they are cheesey, and made me giggle, but that's expected really when it was a hall of bright lights and sober families.
There is another agency I looked at, think it was 'Hire a Band'. Apparently it is more expensive to hire through an agency (not sure myself) but if anything goes wrong on the day they will try and organise a replacement band, saves you from worrying about the worst.
I have heard that 'Slinky' are really good too, and I really liked the sound of them.

Definitely. The last thing you want to be doing on your wedding day is looking for a band. I have 2 back-ups already mind you, the bestman is in a band and I'm taking my ipod too, just in case.
They do have a lot of bands. It helped that I knew what I wanted. I was after a male lead band that was more than just 2 old men in kilts, lol!
Our wedding is July 2010. The first band I looked at was booked up so I got my skates on and got one booked lol.

I went to my cousins 21st party last year and the dj never showed, then he turned up a couple hours later with no music and claimed they were in his friend's car. We ended up nipping home and raiding our cd collection. Was a bit of a disaster really. So me and bridemaids will prepare a an i-pod playlist before the wedding so we have a good selection. I like to be organised for potential emergencies.
It's good you know what you are after, at least it can narrow down your music search.
No, I haven't booked a honeymoon yet. Not sure when you can do that, how far in advance should it be done?
We're not sure where we want to go on honeymoon. H2B's parents are paying for it as a wedding present so the world is our oyster (would have much rather had money for the wedding or house, but don't want to be ungrateful!) Thinking maybe China, Japan, Morroco perhaps, not a clue really!

One of my best friends had Pacific and they were really good. I have booked the riffreshers as thye look really good but they are more expensive / difficult for space as there are seven of them. I would gladly have booked Pacific- i did enquire about them but they were booked on my date. Hope this helps!
