Are there any brides out there getting married in North Northumberland? Just got engaged and looking at possible venues! Would love to be able to chat about venues and hairdressers etc?

Hi - I'm not getting married in Northumberland, but not far off in Peebles.

We've been engaged 18 months, tying the knot this summer. How are your plans going?

Hi Ben's girl,
Nice to hear from you! I've heard Peebles is lovely, you must be getting excited now?

We have just decided to get married and are planning for it next December in 2010! Things are going well, we are looking at the hopeful venue next week and will hopefully get all the deposits paid soon!

Its a small hotel in Beadnell called Beadnell Towers, it's only got 10 rooms, so I think we are going to have to find accomodation for the other 30!

5 months! It will go so quickly!

Hiya, I'm getting married at Ellingham Hall in 17 weeks time, it's about 5 miles inland from Beadnell, in fact some of guests are booked into B&B's there.
I visited loads of venues in Northumberland and very nearly chose Wallington Hall. But Ellingham is so unique it won us over.
Just sorted out the flowers at the weekend - we're using a florist in Alnwick. The only thing I don't know about is what to do or who to use for hair etc!

Hi Token,
Nice to hear from you! It's not long to go now! You must be getting excited! I haven't really thought about Ellingham, we are getting marrried at a church in Seahouses and then on to a reception in beadnell.

If you are thinking about hair and beauty, a really good site that I found is

www.alnwickwedding.co.uk

It's basically a one stop shop!

Speak soon!

Thanks for the website - it's just what I'm after!

I love the northumberland coastline, I live in Manchester now and I miss it. My h2b proposed at bamburgh castle because he knows how much I love it.
It's just a little difficult trying to organise a wedding from so far away!

Hi there,
Glad you like the website. Bamburgh Castle is lovely, that sounds so romantic! I don't live that far from Bamburgh and I love going!

Ellingham looks lovely! Do you have a lot of people going? Is it very expensive?

Hope the planning is going well.

Hi Fliss, Planning is going ok thanks, we have about 80 people for the day and more for the evening. The venue is a bit expensive - about twice what we would have paid for another civil venue like Bamburgh castle, but the advantage for us is that we have the hall for 3 nights. There is accomodation for 31 in the hall so we're asking people to pay for rooms since other guest are having to pay to stay in B&B's. This along with a few other money saving ideas (no cars, cake from M&S etc) means we have pretty much stuck to our original budget. We also get a longer time with our guests as we're having a post wedding party and barbecue the following day!

Hi I'm new!

Not booked venue yet but did look at Ellingham Hall it's lovely, they have a hairdresser they recommend, who travels to the venue, I have her details but need to look for them if you need them?

My friend is getting married on Holy Island in October 2010, but she also went to a wedding at Ellingham Hall last December and I was looking at some of her photos a week or so ago here:

I had a friend who also got married at Langley Castle in Northumberland too - it was a lovely venue for a wedding
