Subject: Petite wedding rings!
I wondered if anyone else has the same problem. I am petite and I have small fingers. I'm only size H wedding finger. I chose my engagement ring because a lot of rings look too big and bulky on my fingers so now I have a thin white and yellow gold solitaire (yellow on one side, white on the other and sort of twists at the diamond) engagement ring and cant find a wedding ring that doesn't look too big with it! Has anyone seen any small and dainty wedding rings? Doesn't matter if its white or yellow gold or both.
Thanks

You could look out for a 1mm ring, possibly get one made at a local jewellers? I think that is the skinniest wedding ring you could get but I think they look beautiful when they are thin.
In Argos they stock a 2mm ring - you could pop in and try the size to see what that looks like on.

thanks mrsewer - I looked up that argos one on the net (7.99!) and then put 2mm wedding ring in google and found that ernest jones and h samuel do a couple that size too so I'll go try those on before maybe asking a jewellers about making a 1mm if that's too big! It's a shame it'll probably just be a plain band but then it might make my engagement ring stand out more and maybe I could get a more expensive metal as they'll be less of it!
Thanks for your help!

Hi there - my wedding finger is I1/2 so not as small as yours but it is really interesting how larger rings than 2mm just looked 'wrong' somehow.

I have an engagement ring but it feels a bit dramatic... so I also bought myself an antique art deco 2mm diamond eternity ring (tiny diamonds, bead set with a very fine milgrain edge) and also an antique 2mm wedding ring. My rings also have a 2mm profile so they don't look flimsy

You might want to consider antique rings as I did as lots of these were made for smaller hands (I am thrilled with mine - the 22 carat gold of the wedding ring is just a beautiful colour that you don't see in modern rings.. and it only cost £100 - once they are polished they really look like new)

I also saw lots of rings in the US (look at some on the internet) that were 2mm and 1.5mm.. I even saw one 1.5mm one with diamonds (I think in the US people like to stack their rings more and also wear thin diamond rings either side of their engagement rings to make the diamonds sparkle even more) so there are more narrow rings available if you really have your heart set on some sparkle!

My ring size is G 1/2 and i have had to have my engagement ring re-sized twice, I have just chosen my wedding ring, which is a plain 2mm gold band from H Samuel, as i think any bigger would not look right. So i would recommend having a look there. Good luck!

I am only a G and have had to get a really thin band for my wedding ring, so thin that I can't have any diamonds. It looks like nothing in the box and people are like, is that it? But with my engagement ring its lovely and really sets it off, I'm really happy with it as I was so worried it would look too thick. You can get thin bands you just might have to get it made bespoke, or get an antique one as suggested above.

Thank you so much, i like the idea of an antique ring so i'll have a look for those too! although the plain band might be nice because of its simplicity. cant wait to go shopping for them now - had looked a couple of times but always tried on rings that were too big, So other people do have this problem with 'normal' wedding rings! In the shop I had my finger measured, my size was the smallest on the measurer so the ladies with size G must find it even more difficult. Thank you for your advice and I will keep you posted x

Hi there, I'm an H size too and I'm having a full diamond set ring. It looks lovely with my engagement ring and not too much at all for my finger.

I looked at some in HSamuels and they go down to an H so you should be ok there when you visit. Good luck x

I'm an H as well. I have an Edwardian yellow gold, platinum set, 4 stone engagment ring.

From the way I've described it, it sounds like a real hum dinger, but it's very dainty indeed: the 4 diamonds are set into little squares, which are all in a line. It looks a bit Art Deco, as it's quite geometric.

Anyhow, yes, I second the antique ring solution. It works for me too.

Oh, I'm just having a plain 2mm band. They look lovely together, and it always gives me a laugh when people try my ring on and it doesn't even fit on their pinkie!!

I'm a size I and went for a 2.5mm plain band to go with my solitaire (rub over set) little diamond. I didn't want that wide, but the 2mm looked really insignificant next to my engagement ring and sort of hid under it. We got ours together at Bicknell's in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter for much less than the online retailers. And just as well, as they had to resize it twice for a perfect fit - while we waited!
