Hello!!

I'm not really trying to lose weight, more get my fitness back but I thought this would maybe be the best place for this. Have decided to try and go running every morning before work. Just 1.5 miles (2.5K) and I thought if I kept track on here it would be harder to give up

So I managed this morning so that's day 1 down. Anyone want to join in and tell me what they've been doing too? Doesn't have to be running and doesn't really have to be every day - just a bit of support for each other

Should say too that I'm not really a morning person but I really do feel that it sets you up for the day if you do some exercise first thing!! xx

Hi, I just did a 15 minute run on wii fit if that counts - to fat to be seen out yet!!!

THing is I don't know how far it is so although I now run the lengths without stopping for and asthma attack i don't know how far it is so as to venture out. How long does it take to run 1.5miles at a moderate pace?

Hi,

I am doing race for life in july so have started training. I have 2 months left of my gym so i am starting with the treadmill everyother day. At the moment i am doing half hour of 2 min fast walk 2 min run etc and work up to do more running. then after 2 months i will hit the road! ah! hehe!

I am overweight and am hoping it will help me shift a little, but the fitness is the main thing as i used to be fit!

Good luck girls!

Ooh I'd like to do something like this - I am more motivated if I have to 'report back' to someone!

I know this sounds poor but I'll start tomorrow (brother's wedding this weekend so pretty drained and knackered from the travelling/ late nights and emotions LOL!) xx Good luck ladies!

Just build up every week and you will be surpirsed how quickly your fitness levels increase. My own PB for 5k is 28 and hald mins, trying to break 28 this year - how terrible when you get competative with yourself!!

Good luck and stick with it x

I think it is great when you get competative with yourself! I am the least competative person ever! but soon as i start running, i want to do better! im not like that with anyother sport or exercise, but running makes me push myself!! thats y i like it! I'm off back down the gym in a min for another run!xx

Well done everyone, I'm very competitive with myself. Much more so than with other people!! Did my first (and only!) 10K last September and did it in 59 mins 14 sec and I'm determined that I'll do the women's 10K in May in a faster time

The reason that I started doing a 1.5mile route was because I was training to get into the police and for the fitness test I needed to do that in less than 14 mins. Can't get in for other reasons but I'd like to get my fitness back to what it was.

If you're starting off I'd say Here comes the bride's idea of walking 2 mins/running 2 mins is a really good way to build it up. Then try running 2 mins/walking 1 min or running 3 mins/walking 2 mins. Whatever works for you! If I'm outside and I'm really struggling I'll usually set myself a mental goal like "I'll keep going till the bridge/gate/lamppost/whatever" and then keep trying to push myself a little further each time.

I'll report in tomorrow to see if I manage to get up and out for a second day in a row!!! Thank you lovely ladies for being supportive

Hi, I'm in the same boat as Betty Bee, I want to get my fitness levels back up. At the moment I am just trying to power walk at least 4 times a week for 20 mins. Have also read that this is really good for stress levels which I need at the mo with my job!! Hoping to build up to running, although it's not my favourite method of exercise. Do any of you have to Body training systems near you (Body balance, attack, combat etc?)

Hey Sazzle! My gym has BTS but the class times unfortunately don't really suit me at the moment. I used to do combat all the time, not too much of a fan of attack and only ever been to a couple of pump classes. I love spin though so going to try to get back to at least one spin class a week too.

Feel free to join in with exercise updates, as I said doesn't need to be running just a bit of support for each other
