...what would it be?

I am wanting to get a few new books for honeymoon for those lazy days by the pool and wondered if anyone had any good ones they could recommend?

Thanks

For lazing by the pool I would recommend The Other Boelyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory, its great. I lent it to a friend of mine who was very very sceptical but she said she couldn't put it down.

I really enjoyed The Road Home by Rose Tremain. I could not put it down. Also Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. Not very light-hearted reads though! Depends what sort of books you enjoy of course x

I have just finished Poppyland, by Rafaella Barker and it was incredible! It's a fantastic love story without ever being soppy or cliched.

My absolute fave book is Crossstitch by Diana Gabaldon. Its the first in a series of 6 books which are all unbelievable.
Its not my usual type of reading but I have honestly read them all over a hundred times and never get tired of them! LOL

My favourite ever is We need to talk about Kevin. Not sure if it's suitable for honeymoon reading though.

I loved 'emotionally weird' by kate atkinson. really quirky and fun. also based in breezy dundee, so you can gloat over the weather wherever you are

Alos loved Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys. It's based on Jane Eyre, roughly, and set in the Carribean. dark though... seems like other people like reading depressing/intense books though!

Books my fave subject...

...it will probably be easier to recommend a book if we knew what type you're into but to give you a few pointers I can highly recommend the following:

1. Kite Runner & A Thousand Splendid Suns - both my Khaled Hosseini
2. Half A Yellow Sun or Purple Hibiscus - both by a nigerian author can't remember her name Adichie maybe?!
3. Any Jodi Picoult - although some are hard hitting
4. The Road Home - Rose Tremain (think someone else mentioned this)
5. If you're into dogs I can highly recommend Marley & Me & The Art of Racing in the Rain

I also find any that feature on the RNJ Summer Read list are good.

Where are you going on honeymoon?

My favourite 'lite reading' books, at the moment, list changes all the time are; The Road by Cormac McCarthy, The Gargoyle (a bit heavy & large for the poolside though!), Bill Bryson or anything by Joe Lansdale, electic weird americana stories.. my guilty pleasure (not even H2B knows I've read it) is Angel by Jordan (don't want to read the sequels though, h2b will never let me live it down, lol!) xx
