My plans are coming along quite nicely, although slowly!

We have booked the church, reception venue, photographer and wedding car. I'm making my own stationary - I've decided on a design just got to start making them now!!
I've started dress shopping and think I could have found 'the one', going to go back during half term to double check!!

Need to get a florist to give us a quote next I think!!

Glad your plans are all coming along nicely too xxxx

Hi, i am a Leeds bride, i am getting married May 2010!!

Its good to talk to others in the area. I have the church, venue, photographer booked. I have bought my dress and bridesmaid. i have also chosen all the mens suites and my 'save the date' cards are going out early june.
I'm struggling with Wedding Cars though - the ones i wanted are far too expensive. Any suggestions?

xx

Hi Girlies

I'm a Leeds Lady too!! But am getting married in Scotland!!!

So far I have; booked venue for wedding, reception, night do; ordered invitations, sorted chair covers, ordered my cake, sorted grooms kilt hire, arranged photographer, had an initial discussion with the florist, sorted favours...more or less everything except my dress....have found one online that I ADORE!!not tried any on yet, and won't be until 20th June (am struggling to get my Mum an MILTB together!!)

Quite organised so far...just really worried about finding a dress.

Oh...nearly forgot...i'm getting married 4th February 2010

Hey everyone, I am exiled Leeds bride! I live in London but am getting married at home in the same church as Mrs Hampson 2b! My reception is at Denton Hall in Ilkley. I have booked that and my photographer and that is it! It's a bit of a pain planning from down here!

My next find is a band, so if anyone knows a good one let me know! xx

I looked at Monk Fryston, it's a lovely venue. I'm not from Leeds, live in Nottingham but am getting married at Nostell Priory, Wakefield - does that count?

I need a lot of help with recommended suppliers with being in Nottingham but getting hitched up north. Recommendations needed for cars & photography - can anyone help? Also I'd like to go to a few wedding fayres up north - anyone know of any dates?

gembokellytobe - try wallworks or studio 53, they came recommended by Monk Fryston in that area so they may cover Nostell Priory (another gorgeous venue, aren't we lucky in Yorkshire!)... Luckily my H2b's cousin is a photographer so we are using him!

On cars, I can't help becuase I'm staying at the hotel the night before too with my parents because they live away from Leeds now and we need to save some money on the budget (cheaper for a room on the Friday than to hire cars)...

Hope that helps,

Hello Ladies,

I went to a 'Beauty and the Bride' evening at my venue last night - basically they had a small fashion show of wedding dresses, bridesmaids and mother of the bride outfits, they had a hair person and a make up person doing demos and a photographer giving wedding day tips and hints and answering any questions - we got to have wine and tapas type nibbles - it was lovey I really enjoyed it!

Just thought i'd share!

Hello - very sorry if this is quite long but would like objective opinions to check i'm not being bridezilla like!!

We booked our venue last April for our wedding in August next year. It is quite a small venue with only 18 bedrooms but we knew we wanted quite an intimate wedding and to be surrounded by friends and family rather than lots of strangers.

When you book the hotel for a wedding the automatically block out all the rooms for you, when we booked there were no bookings so all 18 rooms were reserved for our guests.

Rang up yesterday to book our room and rooms for my parents, sister and grandad. All the rooms are individually designed and have names so they chose the ones they wanted. We can either have a large 4 poster bedded room free of charge or upgrade to penthouse for £99 - we decided we would up grade (penthouse usually £250) and my Mum and Dad would have the other 'bridal suite' room.

When I rang yesterday was told I couldnt book the 'bridal suite' room as it was already booked - by some of the bridal party getting married the day after us!!! LAst night was told they had booked one room, today found out they have booked 2! Now the hotel didnt know that Paul and I didnt want that room (may not have decided to upgrade) but on top of that we are now down 2 rooms and there will be strangers there - something I really dont want. It is only a small hotel so will definatly see them.

Found out whilst on the phone last night that the wedding coordinator has also left in the last few weeks and not been replaced yet so was told someone from sales would contact me today. Left my mobile number and explained as I work that would be the number to get me on. No call today but when I got home I had an answerphone message and e-mail. They must have got my file out for my home number because didnt give it yesterday.

They have offered us the upgrade free of charge and apologised for the mistake - blamed it all on the wedding coord who has left "it was a huge mistake on 'Mildred's' (name changed!) part" which I felt was passing the book slightly.

What would you do now? Be gracious and say "dont worry everyone makes mistakes and thanks for the free upgrade" or, as I am tempted to do, suggest they ring the other bride (who I was told last night booked her wedding at the end of last year) and tell her there has been a mix up and that she cant have the rooms - or am I out of order there?!

What would you do? Please give me some advice!

Hello! I went to a wedding at Monk Fryston last July and it was really lovely. The food was very good!

Gembokellytobe - is it Dine that run events for Nostell Priory? I am getting married at Allerton Castle, not far from York.
If you need any recommendations from the Yorkshire area, just ask. Can't help with cars though but the photographer that we have is Tim Hardy, google him. He did a friends wedding earlier this year and the photos are absolutely beautiful!x
