Subject: Can you recommend me a book to help mend my broken heart?
My fiance ended things between us very suddenly about a month ago and now will not speak to me, it's absoloutely devastated me but I'm getting through each day with the help of my friends. Can you recommend me a good book something that will help me to feel hopeful about love! Someone said to me the other day if our relationship didnt work there is no hope for anyone and I dont want to feel like that was my only chance at happiness although right now it feels this way. Any recommendations welcome, I love reading all sorts of different books x

Sorry to hear about that hun, I read a feel good book recently called A Winter's Tale by Trisha Ashley. It is a typical chick lit book, but I enjoyed it.

Someone said the same to me when I split up with my ex (that there is no hope for anyone if we split), however, 5 years on with a beautiful fiance on my arm - I couldn't be happier! xx

I always read my favourite book when feeling down - Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher. It really is very good and I think you might relate to it. Take Care xx

Have you read any Marian Keyes? Her books are always good for a giggle, but there's a love story to it too. Watermelon might be appropriate or Rachel's Holiday.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Mrs Catlover 64- Marion Keyes is the way forward. Personally i'd get 'Anybody out there?' it's heartbreaking but i'm sure will put things into perspective as it's about loss of a different kind to yours. Also i think that it'll get a lot of the crying out of you.
In fact, i have it at home and i won't read it again so if you email me your address i'll post it to you.
Hope you feel better soon, really sorry how things turned out x

I'm currently reading a relationship psychology book that was recommended by a lady on here.. very insightful - not your usual self-help book! It's aimed at single people so they can avoid making the same relationship mistakes/ people in a relationship to allow them to see if the relationship they're in is healthy and also the married's so they can see how to make their relationship more healthy. WOuld highly recommend, even though it's slightly 'American'!!

I agree with tronksi. Get the Rosamund Pilcher out. You can't beat her for feel good, romantic and just downright fantastic stories.

I recommend, The Shell Seekers, Coming Home and Winter Solstice. All 3 will make you believe in life again.

Every time I feel upset I whip out the Shell Seekers and have a bloody good cry.

Other nice stories are by Maeve Binchy - try The Glass Lake, Scarlet Feather and The Copper Beech.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Try this! I had a copy which I passed on to a friend when I'd finished with it. It's NOT a feelgood novel, more of a self-help book

Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani there is for 4 in the series, I have all four and they are like a best friend, warm blanket and hot chocolate all in one! They are wonderful inspiring books - look out for the character Iva Lou - she comes out with some gems - perfect advice for a broken heart.

Thinking of you...

Yay a fellow Rosumunde Pilcher fan. I've read all those 3 you mentioned - love them all. My nan got me hooked on then when I was 15. Have you seen the tv version of Coming Home?
