Hahaha thanks ladies - I can well imagine it becomes addictive around here!
So anyway... here's my proposal story!
Wednesday 6th May, my partner and I celebrated 3 years of being together... like we've done each year on this day, we visited Beeston Castle, a beautiful castle in gorgeous countryside just 30 or so miles from where we live.
The day started in rather a bittersweet kind of way. The year before I lost my great grandmother who I had cared for for many years, after 7 days in hospital, not leaving her side, she finally left us on the morning of 6th May.
I woke up feeling quite low, but looking forward to spending a couple of nice days off work with my wonderful partner Ian, who has been my best friend for years, and my rock over the tough last 12 months.
We drove down to Beeston castle, walked up to the top chatting and laughing and ate the lunch we'd packed. After spending an hour or two there, we decided to walk some more in the grounds, and as we came down the bridge in the photo below, he got down on one knee, produced a beautiful sparkly ring and asked me to marry him!
I cried for what seemed like hours! Hehe! Called my parents, and my brother (who I think was in more shock than anybody!) and we spent the rest of the day together having fun at the nearby candle factory making special candles we burned that night, going out to dinner and me generally just being very emotional and distracted by my ring...
As I mentioned in my introductory post, we plan to get married in May 2012 - so this is the very start, and I'm excited, nervous and looking forward to the future immensely!
