Subject: Hi all!
Hi everybody,

I hope this is the right place, I just wanted to introduce myself having been reading these forums for a week or so.

I'm Amy, from the Wirral... and last week my lovely partner of three years Ian proposed to me! It came as a bit of a shock but was a wonderful surprise to be given a beautiful sparkly ring... and as I'm sure do most of you, I now feel like tha happiest, luckiest girl on the planet!

We've decided to get married in May 2012 - a good way off yet, as we would like a big wedding, with friends and family from all over, and don't want to feel rushed planning it.

I have lots of ideas and questions and so forth, so look forward to chatting with some of you very soon!

Hahaha thanks ladies - I can well imagine it becomes addictive around here!

So anyway... here's my proposal story!

Wednesday 6th May, my partner and I celebrated 3 years of being together... like we've done each year on this day, we visited Beeston Castle, a beautiful castle in gorgeous countryside just 30 or so miles from where we live.

The day started in rather a bittersweet kind of way. The year before I lost my great grandmother who I had cared for for many years, after 7 days in hospital, not leaving her side, she finally left us on the morning of 6th May.

I woke up feeling quite low, but looking forward to spending a couple of nice days off work with my wonderful partner Ian, who has been my best friend for years, and my rock over the tough last 12 months.

We drove down to Beeston castle, walked up to the top chatting and laughing and ate the lunch we'd packed. After spending an hour or two there, we decided to walk some more in the grounds, and as we came down the bridge in the photo below, he got down on one knee, produced a beautiful sparkly ring and asked me to marry him!

I cried for what seemed like hours! Hehe! Called my parents, and my brother (who I think was in more shock than anybody!) and we spent the rest of the day together having fun at the nearby candle factory making special candles we burned that night, going out to dinner and me generally just being very emotional and distracted by my ring...

As I mentioned in my introductory post, we plan to get married in May 2012 - so this is the very start, and I'm excited, nervous and looking forward to the future immensely!

We're a bit stumped - did you ask just family members to take part, or friends too? Also, did anyone have both sets of mums as their witnesses?

I am going to get a hoodie with my married name and the date of our wedding to wear the day after we get married. My H2B wants one too but is not sure what to put on his.
