I'm so upset...

Hi all,

I had my first fitting today and I've come home feeling really down. I was really hot and bothered by the time I got to the shop so wasn't in the best mood to try it on. I've lost about 2 odd stone since I ordered it so it of course was too big. Don't get me wrong - I loved the dress and didn't think I looked too bad when I was in the shop. It was only when it was pinned that my family started taking photos.

I got home and have looked at the photos and I hate every single one of them and just want to cry. Having had to pin it in has meant that I can't see the final shape of the dress and I feel I just look horrible in it. My arms are fat and its such a beautiful dress as well.

I'm really struggling not to get really depressed about it - when I told my mom she said that I'd not really commented on the dress but criticised my body - I could see back fat, fat arms and a fat face. I don't even think I'm standing in it properly as it's a litte to one side.

I've put the link to the 3 photos which I've uploaded..all the rest I deleted. When you see them, you'll see what I mean about the pinning. She said that it will be taken in all the way down and not just where she has stopped the pins - she couldn't get them into the fabric with me still in it. My mom said it could be to do with lots of things - the way I was standing, how the photos were taken etc. I'm really hoping that once it's been taken in it will look lovely but I just can't get over my awful photos.

I've just looked at another post on here of a lady who looks fab in her dress...sob!

Steph, first off well flipping done on losing "2 odd stone" I've been trying since last Sept to lose weight and have got stuck at a stone loss and its the same pesky pound that goes off then on again so am completly jealous you've lost 2! Secondly I think you look gorgeous in that dress and once you've had your final fitting it will knock your h2b and guests socks off... its very Wuthering Heights! Are you having a veil as per your piccie 2 - that might help you feel less self concisous of your arms (my weak spot also!) or have you thought about having long evening gloves I think they'd look amazing with that dress?!? Please don;t feel down, your pics are fab and not awful at all!!! Niks xxx

You look stunning. You wmight not see it but we all so. At the moment the dress is too big so isn't pulling you in and giving you the shape that you are after, so what you see is the dress sitting away from your body rather than shaping it. When the dress has been altered you will see a big difference and the dress wont bunch up under your arms at all making your outline look even slimmer.

We all worry about our dresses and how we look, honestly my weight has been up and down like a yoyo, have put on weight in the last 3 weeks and tried my dress on tonight and it's too small (wedding in 11 days!) so no food for me and I think I will extend my back panel just to make sure it ok.

Congratulations on losing two stone that is fantastic. You will knock everyone dead on the day. x

I read your post and was expecting you to look a right mess in it Your dress is stunning, so flattering and you look gorgeous in it – honest!

I have looked at the pics and I can honestly say I don't see any back fat, I think the 1st 2 pictures are the best as you have your Veil on and your smiling and I really think you look loverly. My dress is hand made and I had to stand there for my first fitting with this white see through version of the Dress (I have also managed to lose 2 stone) and lets just say what I saw I didn't like but I think we all look at our selves with a edge of well I no im larger so im not going to look nice and we look for all the small things that could be wrong. Friends and family can take that extra step back that is some times needed to see the whole picture and I can say that I think you look loverly I really do.

It sounds like you were putting a lot of pressure on yourself for that first fitting - its probably been a while since you've seen the dress, you've lost weight and everyone was there waiting to take piccies - maybe you were hoping it would feel a certain way, and the stress and pressure all got a bit much.

I think you're being way too hard on yourself. You look gorgeous - its a stunning dress and it really suits you. I hope I look half as lovely as you do in my dress! If its too big it won't be pulling you in and supporting you like it will once its been altered, and also don't forget on the day you'll have the hair, make-up and accessories so you'll be feeling like a proper bride!

Try not to get too down about it - it'll be perfect once its all been altered, honest!! Good luck hun!! xx

im going to be completely honest with you, as we come here to ask questions and we want honesty in return, i think the dress is beautiful but i think you look amazing in it, you have done a brilliant job losing weight and i think when bigger girls start losing weight they can see all these inprefections that are not really there. you really do look stunning and i can picture tou on the day blowing people away, try not to worry about what you see in that picture as that is not what you will see on your day with your hair done and the whole outfit complete. you make a wonderful bride and you should be so proud of yourself xx

Mrs Badham please don't worry. Your dress is lovely and you look fab in it, i wouldn't say it if it wasn't true! Don't be so hard on yourself hun, as the others have said it will look perfect when its been altered. Stop worrying and start to get excited. Well done on yor weight loss darlin, thats fantastic! If i look half as good as you do in your dress, i will be a very happy bride!! The dress is stunning and you look absolutely gorgeous. I have also been trying to lose weight, but have ending up putting it on!! You are an inspiration for losing that much weight.... please dont beat yourself up.... i think you are putting too much pressure on yourself when there is no need.

firstly i just wanna say a BIG well done for loosing 2 stone that is excellent!ure dress is gorgeous and you look a princess. no fat backin sight and ure arms are not fat!!!!!i wish my arms were like yours!u will probably feel better when all the alterations have been done and especially on the special day u will feel and look a millon dollars. xx
