Hi hun im a hairdresser and hate it when stylists get scissor happy your hair will prob be a couple of inches longer in 3 months. Dont think there is a way to make it grow faster im afraid. But some ppl say they think their hair grows faster in the summer. xx

I was always told wearing my hair in a plait makes it grow quicker!!! Never tried it tho!! And not sure i believe it would work.

Oh no. Poor you. I had a hairdresser go mental on my hair in february and I'm getting married in August. Has taken forever and still got one layer that is about a quarter of the length of the rest of my hair. It looked awful then and still looks awful now. What part of "I'm growing it, so keep the layers long" is difficult to understand!!??

My hair and make-up artist is getting some wefts to put in my hair for the day. So looking forward to getting my hair cut and highlighted by my hairdresser back down in London before the big day- I know she won't butcher it, but she is expensive. Can't risk another disaster 2 weeks before the big day though!

Hope it grows to an accpetable length sweetie.

Poor you Florence, what a nightmare that you really don't need.

I can empathise, my hairdresser was off sick when I went for a pre wedding trim 4 days before my wedding, so was given a different stylist who decided to hack it about and made it lopsided by about an inch. Was horrified.

I have heard that if you really rub your scalp hard with your fingertips when you're massaging in shampoo, you stimulate the blood flow that helps hair grow, but that could be an urban myth. I do it anyway, in the hope that one day, my hair will grow longer than my shoulder blades.... in 35 years, it hasn't yet

Thanks ladies, nice (in a way) to hear that it isn't just me. Why is it that some hairdressers just cut how they like not matter what you ask for??

I had another one hack off my fringe really short (so it was in the middle of my forehead) a week before I was being photographed and featured in a newspaper. I nearly cried then and there, and then cried loads at home. I still think I look like a simpleton now in the picture.

I'd said that I was growing out half of my fringe because I felt it was too fat and wide, so she decided to hack it off instead....

Oh Sam how awful, you have bad hair luck! This is my worst hair cut for years (in terms of trauma) -typical it's just before my wedding.
Coming round to the idea that I can have extensions, but just feel such a fool for not telling her to stop

I think we all have that at some point though, too terrified to ask them to stop, should be annoy them with scissors in hand, lest they chop even more off:o

here's the pic from the paper. It wasn't particularly flattering in anyway shape or form, but the hair made it worse

I know! and once they start you think - if I ask them to stop i'll be lopsided
You don't look like a simpleton at all Sam - the layers on the sides are nice! And at least it's a positive article - did you win the award?

I shall have to look at your forum for make up tips - I'm not a big make up person - having someone to do it on the day but she has advised i 'bring my own foundation' which i never wear so needing to research some light but lasting ones!

LOL! I had a college ball once, and was having my hair 'done' for it (it was about 95!) and she set and styled it, then got out her scissors, I thought she was just trimming a few stray ends.

It looked amazing and I had a great night, the next day however, it was all over the place, she'd cut it into shape!!!!

Anyway, no, we didn't win the award, we came 4th behind Hitched, confetti and brides magazine, but placed ahead of The Page for weddings, and knocked out here (!!), cosmo bride, WeddingNetwork, weddingservices4 u and someone else!

oooooo, and is it a pro makeup artist doing your makeup? you shouldn't need to supply your own foundation, they need to do that for you...

Well done! Had a look over the site, it looks great, the product reviews are really helpful for an occasional make up user like me.

She is trained but not full time professional. She did the make up for my best friend's weddig, so I know she's good - but back then I didn't care so much about my make up as I was BM and the day wasn't about me, so I just used some minderal powder foundation I had then (which is a bit too dark I think, but a nice feel).
Maybe I should ask her about her providing foundation - she probably assumes most people will have it?
BTW how did you hair work out on the wedding day after the trauma with the sick hairdresser?

She was fine on the day, and I dashed in the day before the wedding for her to sort out the lopsidedness, so all came good in the end!

I'd double check re the foundation, I've never asked someone to use their own. Ocassionally brides will ask if I can use their own, but unless it's the same make and type as any that I use, I won't guarantee the longevity.

I also would rec the mineral stuff, it is lovely stuff, but it's full of titanium dioxide (which makes it lovely and light reflective) cos It will badly bounce light and the photographer's flash, and you'll end up with a ghostly white face in all your pictures.

it's a minefield this makeup malarky!!!
