Subject: Build A bear - rip off or worth the money?
What do you think ladies? It's step daughter to be's 7th birthday in a couple of weeks and I suggested this to H2B. He thinks it's an overpriced, American import and a load of rubbish. I think that although it's expensive, it's worth it - my 3 nieces have all been, absolutely loved it and treasure their bears.

I think my brother has scared H2B with tales of how long you have to queue!

My kids adore their build a bear (bear factory) bears and I think they are worth it as they are only expensive the first time, then you can buy the outfits for cheap birthday pressies.
Don't buy it for her though take her there, they make it for her and give it a heart which you wish on and print a birth certificate for her too, they then put in it a little home box too.
I have never had a big queue in there though.
The bears start from £8 and the outfits are about £10.

H2B keeps banging on about how we didn't have those type of american things when we were kids, what is wrong with just buying her a teddy bear (ready made as it were lol) and that it's a complete take on. I think that she would love it and she's only 7, aren't most things for 7 year olds a bit of a rip off to some extent anyway? I'll mention it again but if he says no then he can pick her pressie himself - and I can watch him panic the day before her birthday!

I know. My youngest niece just turned 4 and I took her to Toyrs R US for her pressie. She wanted a Sylvanian Families house. It was £50 and there wasn't even any furniture in it. It would have cost double that to deck it out.

My sister works for Build A Bear in Maidstone, Kent. She loves working there and says that the happiness on the kids faces is fantastic and there for priceless.

It is one of the better American things that we have over here.

So i'd definately say take her along and get her one done, just think of it as she'll be asking for more expensive things when she gets older.

I think between £10 and £20 for a build a bear is reasonable if you take her there yourself, she will have all the fun too.

Wait until she is older and wanting GHD hair straighteners/mobile phone/wii/ipod/laptop. He'll be wishing she'd settle for a teddy bear then.
