Subject: Can we recommend some wedding dress shops girls
Hi ladies,
Well yesterday i went to try on dresses for the first time. First off i went to The Big Day in Castleford who were absolutely fantastic and i tried on loads of dresses and found one that i love. However, in the afternoon i had an appointment at another shop in Harrogate to try on a dress i had seen at a wedding fair and fallen in love with. Humliating is not the word - ALL the dresses they had couldn't have been any bigger than a size 10, they basically just said what were you wanting and i explained about the dress i'd seen, which they found for me and i then ended up stood in my bar and knickers holding the dress up to me to 'get the idea'.
Anyway, even though i've seen one dress i like i'd still love to try on some more so i wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere that stocks larger size dresses so i can try some more on. I live in Sheffield but i don't mind travelling.
Thanks girls x x x

Hi,
Sorry, can't make any recommendations other than The Big Day as that's the only 'plus size' shop I've been to and it's where I'm getting my dress from. They were absolutely amazing and I totally love my dress.
Every other experience I had with other shops (standard sized dress shops) have been close to hoorendous...
I can't recommend The Big Day enough!

Hi there,
I've ordered my dress from here,
http://www.thebridalwearcompany.co.uk/content/index-id-68.htm
They are a web based company but have a bridal studio in Berkshire. I went down there yesterday and tried on loads of dresses as they do cater for all sizes and their prices are simply amazing! I cannot recommend them enough!

Hi
I went to Heavenly Bodies Bridal in London. They do appointments only, so you have the whole place to yourself. They also only have plus size dresses and the choice is amazing. The service was very good and so was the seamstress. I can definetely recommend them!

i got my dress from Amore Plus in Rugby.....bit of a way to travel though!
They were fantastic....every single dress fitted (i am a 22) some were too big!!!
They work on appointment only and for those 2 hours i could try on as many dresses as i wanted. and believe me i did!! I was dreading going trying on dresses but within minutes felt really comfortable standing in my underwear trying them on.
Would totally recomend them....
Good luck x

i went to a shop in Darlington called The Opulent Bride they had various dresses mostly size 18 but an odd 26 / 28
i tried on a few 18's (i'm a 22 by the way) and she laced them looselyto get an idea they were no nastyness and horrible looks extremely professional and understanding

hi
i'm think of going to heavenly bodies in london, they have a great gallery on line.
but i'm worried about the price tag? anyone have a idea of the scale of prices. dont want to waist time with an appointment if i cant afford any of there dresses.
this sounds like it could be a very useful thread.

i went to voluptuous brides in crystal palace. it was ok - but lots of similar stock, whereas really i wanted to try a variety of shapes. it was almost all strapless, too - and while big brides can look great in strapless frocks, they aren't going to be the most flattering ones to wear.

I've ordered my dress from the big day, its the only shop I went to! Their service really is second to know, only 118 days to go until I can wear my Ronald joyce! x

Heavenly Bodies Bridal is fantastic. Patricia will ask your budget, and if you pick a dress on over your budget she'll put it to one side.
My dress (Venus Woman - no Style HBB 37V on the heavenly bodies Bridal website) is only £700, plus £100 in alterations, I don't think any of the dresses are over £1290. There are also some samples that she's selling.
It's well worth a visit, as your treated like a princess from the minute you arrive. Good luck with your dress shopping.

Hi Mrspike
Heavenly Bodies Bridal dresses started at around 700 pounds up to around 1300. I found a sample dress that was perfect for me for only 200!!!!!! She actually had quite a collections of sample dresses, so even if you are on a tight budget it might be worth a visit. I definetely recommend Patricia and her shop, also the alterations were perfect.
Hope that helps.

I kive in Kent and i went to 'Deisy's' in Gillingham,
She has stock in bigger sizes as well as the smaller ones....She is very honest in what she thinks will suit but in the end its your decision and she is not pushy at all....
I ordered a Ronald Joyce design which was great for my shape and the fact that im a size 18/20 and 46yrs....
i got to wear mine back in April....and loved every minute!!!!....
